3LW is probably realistic.

Only 7 goals in 54 AHL games last year. Doubt we see much offense out of him but could be a useful player. Which is more than I could say for Harrington.

Harrington played well when he was here - I think we just have an abundance of 3rd pairing D and nowhere for them to play.

Great trade. Too much of a logjam on the bottom d pairing moving forward anyways..

I don't think the overage factor is an issue. Lots of these guys will be ready to play soon and all but two are eligible to play in the AHL if need be. I think the Leafs are drafting for depth at this point - after getting mathews (following a strong draft last season) and have key skilled components in place. I think it was a decent draft, we'll see.

They could also be managing the cap for the next few years too. If my logic proves:

Stamkos comes in for $10m/per season...everyone was female doging about how we pay other players. So instead of a bunch of younger draft picks that will take 3 to 4 years to play...a few years in the CHL or where ever then the AHL....they take the older draft picks that can get into the AHL now and start to learn the Babcock systems now.

18/19 season they are coming out of the Marlies on ELCs ready for the NHL rather than coming out of the minors on ELCs. Just a thought, could be wrong.

Harrington was definitely, for better or worse, lost in the depth chart. I'm glad they went out and drafted a bunch of defense.
