Might have already been mentioned (not reading back 28 pages), but most of the picks have one thing in common. They are either able to play on the Marlies next year, or are committed to other leagues. Most won't take up a contract, for a year or two unless they impress greatly. Three of them are, or almost are 20, so no constraints from junior leagues.
A lot of the draft plan seems to have revolved around keeping as much flexibility and control as possible.
They really are pissed that Marner can't play in the AHL next year.
