I'm not.

They have a strong scouting presence in Russia and Shanny has kept close ties with his former teammates Larionov/Kozlov/Federov, etc. (not to mention Lou's contacts too).

Not to the same extent as the leafs. Some do, but not every. Not worried about it in the least to be honest. If they develop into a player they'll be here.

I wouldn't call it an issue, but a curious strategic move.

I hope they ask as well. I'm guessing they are targeting that specifically to get players to the Marlies sooner as they think there is going to be a large outflow of talent up to the leafs this year.

Nah. I really think he's going to stay with TB. There's only going to be so many suitors and he'll have a week to find out what the true market value is for him out there.

DET is my guess at who's going to offer the most now that Datsyuk is gone. Pretty tempting destination too: close to home (if he cares about that), he would slot in as the #1 ahead of Zetterberg at this point I would think.

I really don't think Stamkos is part of the Shannaplan at this point either. Matthews changed everything, IMO.

They cleared out lousy contracts for a reason. It wasn't to pay rent. They will push hard for Stamkos.

So they took a lot of projects after Matthews by the look of it. Perhaps they feel they have time to let their prospects simmer now.

You can't even begin to evaluate a draft until about 3-4 years later.

We will just have to wait and see.

I think BUF is ahead of us in their rebuild slightly, but I really don't see them as a destination at all; nowhere near a contender, even with Stamkos.

DET is just one of those teams that are always in it and Stamkos there doesn't exactly put them "over the top" like Kessel did for PIT, but he's an upgrade over Datsyuk at this point in his career for sure.
