Toronto signs him to a 7 year $9M per deal with full NMC/NTC for first 6 years paid as such:

Year 1: $15.0M
Year 2: $10.5M
Year 3-7: $7.5M

$1M base contract with the rest being paid as signing bonuses.

Stamkos makes $24.5M in the first calendar year and avoids escrow.

Thank goodness for the Matthews miracle.

While I have no idea how well or how poorly the Leafs did this draft, nobody will know for a few years, but I'm bittersweet about the draft because we didn't make any trades but mostly because Matthews was the only guy I had heard of going into the draft that we got.

Nah. I really think he's going to stay with TB. There's only going to be so many suitors and he'll have a week to find out what the true market value is for him out there.

DET is my guess at who's going to offer the most now that Datsyuk is gone. Pretty tempting destination too: close to home (if he cares about that), he would slot in as the #1 ahead of Zetterberg at this point I would think.

I really don't think Stamkos is part of the Shannaplan at this point either. Matthews changed everything, IMO.
