Potential top 6 forwards....instead they waste the pick on some guy that most likely won't make the NHL....and if he does, will be a 3rd line or 4th line player. Not understanding why we wouldn't take the best available.

I kind of share your opinion, theres definitely a few guys I would have preferred they take with that pick. But the bottom line for me is this management group has absolutely earned my trust. If they think he was the guy to pick in that spot, im good with it.

After the first 16 picks, there is really no such thing as "the best available player".

This is why each team has their own scouting departments...
