I hope I'm wrong, but I can tell you that Vesey passed on signing with a very good Nashville team for the same reasons. And Buffalo was NOT one of the teams he had in mind at that time.

Actually buffalo could sign him the day they aquire his rights. No other team can sign him until august 15th.

Why in the world would Vessey sign in Buffalo? Because Sam and Risto are there? . Yes and maybe Andrew Luck will want to play for the Bills because Sammy Watkins is the best receiver in the league. Very sad for Eichel. He will be here all alone carrying that waste of a pick Reinhart because Stamkos or Vessey are not going to choose this sad franchise.

AND moved up in the 2nd round to secure Nylander's linemate from the WJC... I think Pysyk failed to seize his opportunity with the Sabres and Kulikov gets a change of scenery. Kulikov got off to a good start the first 2-3 seasons of his career. After losing his role to Ekblad and others, he did less with a lesser role (no surprise really). If the Sabres coaching staff can't resurrect his career, they let him walk at season's end... No big deal. It's another risk... Murray is a risk taker, he has been clear on that.

Personally, if the Sabres were going to take a smaller forward with that pick... I would have liked to see Alex Debrincat, but the Hawks were wise to jump on him.
