The Hawks now have 12 draft selections for 2017.
looking to be a Chicago show - mmurray892
I checked the team site and it looks 10. The 2 in red were Hawk picks traded away.
But it looks like we are in good shape for draft hosting.
I think Stan will be quite reluctant to trade draft picks before the TDL -in fact he may look to add more. |

Heard all is quiet for now on the Kruger front. Beyond that, nothing. |

If I was Weise I wouldn't want to come back.
I think Ryan Hartman is your Shaw-replacement. Hawks really have no money for free agents, they barely have enough money for bargain priced players to fill out the roster. |

I don't understand StanBo.....he says the teams is NOT in cap trouble? REALLY?
Who is the #1 LW? What about a proven D-man? Sure, Stan, you're not in cap trouble, if the plan is to play 3-4 Rockford kids. |

He has to say this to save face. His contracts are not tradeable and now he's stuck. There will be no new first line left wing. I suspect Panik will get first shot, they probably need to resign McNeill and give him a look. Hope Kane's line duplicates what they did last year. Hope Kempny can be a top 4 guy, Crow keeps standing on his head, players like Motte, Hartmann, Lundberg are capable bottom 6 guys...that's your recipe. |

Oh, agreed. But, I don't see how StanBo can say they're not in cap trouble anymore, when they don't even have an accomplished #1 LW--and no cap room to sign one.
As for the blue line, hey, maybe Rosival is faster, being one year older.

What else is Stan going to say? Yup, we are still pretty screwed? Technically, they do not have a cap issue right now. Say what you will about the available pieces, that is true. I take anything said at this time of year with a grain of salt. It really doesn't matter.
And the people getting irritated about the kids we are drafting today, you are not going to get a Saad every year. In all likelihood, none of the guys drafted where the Hawks are picking are going to play this year. They are young kids (many still growing). Draft the talent and develop it... |

Stan Bowman said nothing to announce on UFA front yet but said "you'll be able to figure out who we're signing very soon." |

Really think all he was saying was that because of the TT, Bicks, Shaw moves he didn't HAVE to make any more moves.
Over the past few years he HAD to make moves to get under the cap. |

Just give Hope a chance. ....
They could make some moves, but the two "most logical" trade chips, Kruger and AA (due to NMC clauses) would leave a gaping hole in either spot.
Crawford apparently won't waive for just anyone and I still believe the perception from the league is he's not that great so I doubt there is a huge market for him
Seabrook is next. My favorite player on this entire team also has a NTC and moving him would create a huge loss in talent on the blueline and leadership. Can't see him being moved unless the Hawks are going to blow it up.
They have no wings of any value/significance/salary that are tradeable. Unless you count Panarin and I can't see him being on the table either, but they may end up losing him next year anyway....would Stan think about trading him? Doubt it, but he did trade Brandon Saad who was sorta in the same position...
it would NOT shock me if Panarin was moved. NO NO NO I am not advocating it, but I wonder if it's something they are at least looking at because he may give you the best return of nearly anyone on the team. Still, that doesn't really help the cap for this year at least. |

There a lot of time between now and the start of next season but as of right now the Hawks have not gotten better and have not positioned themselves to extend Panarin this summer. Using the experience from last off season, I'm not feeling confident Stan will (1) improve the team and (2) tie up Panarin before the season starts. |

I'd argue that on this day back when Sadd was drafted you didn't know you were getting him. I'm sure you can go back and find 50 posts that were killing the pick because he didn't live up to potential, was injury prone, etc. etc.
Hell, most on this board were killing the Hawks and McD for even playing him with the big club, said he was given it, didn't earn it.

I liked Weiss, but didn't seem to get a fair shake. Kinda pissed we had to deal Danault for him, but doubt Weiss is coming back. |

I like the DeBrincat pick. Not large in stature but large in heart and talent. |

Trouble is we've seen this movie before. Stan waits and waits and then loses leverage. If this team isn't coming into focus by Mid July, expect a repeat of the Sharp/Leddy fiascos. |

its hard work rounding out a team around a couple of high priced superstars.
you guys still have the hardest pieces locked up. theyre great players, and will make those around them better. its what they do.
but its about damn time you guys feel the squeeze a bit. |
