More like: Move TT to 100% get rid of Bick's $4M, cuz Schmaltz is signing, then figure out what to do next. I am not even sure Shaw was plan-A. SB and Co knew what it was going to take to sign Shawzy.

And if they are truly serious about the cap hit imbalance, they are more inclined to sign sub-$3M players.

He wants close to max term. Kings offered around 4 years for 6MM. Highly doubt Hawks can up that. Plus anything more than 4 is not worth it for him.

All of these lower tier picks are being chosen to reload Rockford for the losses the Hogs will take in callups to the big club, and those who are being let go/not re-signed.

I know its early on the off season, but the draft seemed like the best time to make the trade to unload some big salary. The team cannot have another last minute trade and not get a decent return out of it.
