What are you talking about? Q will love that. Ha
- TyCamScore

Of course Q will love that. He loves to scream and appear to be ready to have an aneurysm at any moment from the bench.

Debrinket is a really skilled player and you can't pass on a1st round talent at 39. The Rusky and the goalie picks are completely out of left field...I hope they work out but I was really hoping for a Dman to develop with one of those picks...

He's probably a bit entitled as a former 1st rounder and top player in the AHL. He won't last long under Q if he's taking unsportsmanlike penalties. I think he will be an effective 4tine grinder the year with the big club.
- EnzoD

I agree with that assessment, and part of Q's job is to be able to develop and reign guys in. My biggest pet peeve with Q is his outright refusal to help NHL ready prospects come up and become pro players.

I am not saying Q needs to becomes a strictly developmental coach, but honestly how can he just sit back and only want cheap veterans on the roster with no upside?

Expecting that Q and Stan will need to learn to deal with each others differing philosophies this offseason. We need to develop young talent this year, and Q needs to deal with letting these young guys experience their growing pains.

Moving down 15 picks for a 6th the following year. Is that worth it? Seems like someone must have gotten a player the hawks were planning on taking at 95.

Guy isles took was a goal scorer but only 5-9 so they'd gotten shot here for taking that guy. Of course he gets coverage on TV for his goal scoring potential.

[quote=z1990z]The high hopes I had coming into this draft have that taking on water feeling. The roster still has major holes, the attempt to trade CC yesterday fell apart, we lost Shaw.. The team is weaker

I don't believe for 1minute that they won't be in the thick of things for either A) Milan Lucic B) Kyle Okposo C) Andrew Ladd or D) David Backes......my gut feeling is on Lucic if he wants to leave the coast. McDonough isnt gonna go into this convention with out introducing a major pick up. Not gonna settle for runnin a bunch of marginal talent down the red carpets come September!

Ya I was kind of thinking you'd see mostly dmen drafted today.

That being said, if they aren't quality, I wouldn't want them to draft them just to do it.

Lucic Lucic Lucic! He's like Beetlejuice where if you say his name 3 times in a row he will appear in a Blackhawk's jersey at an affordable AAV and 4 year term

Its going to be VERY difficult to build a Cup contender when you lose as much forward depth as the Hawks have. Ladd, Shaw, Teravainen, and Weise. That's 1/3 of the forward lineup.

I don't care how much better the defense is, or how well Crawford plays.

Unless the Hawks get incredibly lucky with the group of Schmaltz/Motte/Hartman/Lundberg/etc, and have 2-3 of them become instant impact players(like the Penguins kids did last year), then i see no way for them to roll 4 lines, might not even be able to roll 3....

Hawks will be going into this season like 25 other teams...with a lot of hope, but not much guaranteed. It was bound to happen....you can't subtract that much talent both on the big club and in the farm and still remain elite.

Wiz you are on fire with the Hawks picks, unfortunately, every guy they pick that you had them picking, you had much lower than they did.

Nathan Noel - 4th Rd, #113 - seems like a good one! Love that CHI actually took a Canadian.

From Elite Prospects:

"A hard-working offensive forward that seems to compliment his linemates, whoever they may be. Good hockey sense and creativity in the offensive end. Very good puck possession skills; good hands to stay slippery, and a non-stopping motor that bodes nicely with his skating agility. Keen awareness on the ice lets him slip into good scoring positions where he can either pass the puck or tap home a goal. All-in-all, a guy who has a high level of skill and can be relied upon in situations where you need to strike quickly or run down the clock with a lead. I'll *hesitantly* second this.

I'm sure one or two of the kids will be able to step up this season and produce, but I don't think it'll be Schmaltz or Motte. I think Lundberg can be a pleasant surprise and think in an ideal situation, he can slot in with Kruger and Desjardins on the fourth line (if Kruger isn't on the third line).

I really hope that Stan will be able to sign a couple veterans who still have something left in the tank. Not the likes of Brunette, O'Donnell, etc. who were essentially skating on one leg.

Lucas Carlsson, LD (Brynas, SHL)
Cut from the traditional mold of a modern Swedish two-way defender, Carlsson is an excellent skater who uses good anticipation and positioning in being effective at both ends of the ice. Heady and highly competitive, Carlsson is already a full-time player in the Elite league as an 18-year-old, a testament to his maturity with and without the puck. He is able to play in every situation and though currently of average height and weight, can wear the opposition down through a stifling checking style. Carlsson also has the potential to emerge as a significant scoring threat too as he moves the puck very well, owns a hard slap shot, and has the hockey sense to compliment offensive forwards.

It's definitely an issue now Jack. Especially if for whatever reason Kruger gets traded, now there is a big, BIG problem.

Rumours are he's gonezo, as CHI is "moving away" from the former first rounder.

Obviously someone (aka Q) wasn't a fan of his game only getting in 1 NHL game.

Doubt it.. Gonna guess McNeil is a throw in for a trade. Unless Stan is able to unload a big chunk of money, Q is gonna have to work with some young players.
