5' 7" and 167? That's pretty stocky. Being that short can give you some nice leverage for winning board battles. Seems like he was the best available by far and has a good scoring touch.

Chicago takes Chad Krys, one of biggest fallers on my board from last summer. Very mobile and skilled but needs to improve defense.

CHI takes Chad Krys at No. 45. Another guy going to BU. Krys was No. 67 on TSN list.

"A small, technically sound player"
"Kayumov doesn’t have legit size on his side"

Are the Hawks paying by the inch?

Kayumovs draft profile from Hockeys Future:

Artur Kayumov, LW
5’10”, 155 lbs.

A small, technically sound player, Artur Kayumov is a gifted player with a good nose for the net and excellent skating ability. He is not big, but he can overcome this problem with his soft hands and fast skating. Kayumov can both score and help other players to score and is a constant threat in the offensive zone. He is very smart and is doing very well with the U18 national team in the MHL, and he was one of the best players for Team Russia this summer at the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament. His lack of size may cause Kayumov to be considered a long shot to make it to the NHL, but he has all the tools to succeed.

A bit questionable, but gotta have faith in the scouting staff.

According to source, $4.5m/yr figure for #Blackhawks to keep Shaw is inaccurate. Hearing he wanted term and around $3.2m AAV cap hit.

Still high at 3.2 , We'll see what he gets from MTL .

I like the first pick, but know nothing of the other two. I'll leave final judgement to the experts.

Looking at the second round as a whole, not a lot of size being picked. The guy TB took right before the Hawks, the Canadian with the Russian name, seemed intriguing.

Hawks have decided that if the NHL isn't going to call the obstruction penalties, they'll just draft little players that can skate through the legs of the other team like a cartoon.

Was thinking, the Hawks finally didn't grab a local kid. The first guy played at Lake Forest Academy.

He was the guy Wiz said played like Shaw.

Gotta really wonder about the size they are drafting. You can understand a guy like Debrincat, who scored a ton. But hell, these guys are making Anthony Louis look big.

Guess they are going to draft for their system they play.

Blackhawks draft pick Alex DeBrincat said he was a Red Wings' fan, but "not anymore."
