Solid B. I really loved each of their last two drafts, and I only liked this one. Getting Laberge and Allison was nice in round two. I watched more stuff on Allison and asked a few more questions and think he's a really good pick at 52
- Jsaquella

I was lukewarm on Allison because I knocked him down b/c BB knocked him on hockey sense. And it might still be a concern. But for a big PWF, kid can skate and puck handle. My fear was going after a PWF like Bastian or Smith who can't skate and have questionable skills. We didn't do that at least. Allison can do things, and his second half season he came on fire. He's also old for his draft year. We shall see.

But I can't say I'm thrilled Abramov or Bitten went to 65 and 70, or we passed on Dube. But really, only Twarynski kind of pisses me off. That's not a good pick at the middle of the 3rd with some fallers and potential kids on the board. After and before that? Very solid. But damn I do wish we got another electric player. That's wonderful we have 200 ft players who can maintain possession, but we do need to score with that possession. This isn't college hockey where the first part is enough to score.

Some Rangers fan thinks they can get Stamkos in a sign and trade for Nash and Kreider.

I'm not pissed at him, but he was a reach from all indications. Of course, who knows, maybe he's a late bloomer or a guy that it suddenly clicks for. But these guys all fit the model they seem to be gunning for.

Can't wait to see who we invite to camps. There are some really high quality players still lurking. Brayden Burke....Kyle Maksimovich....Domenic Commisso....Alan Lyszczarczyk....Luke McInnis....

A couple of those have top 6 skills.

Eh. I'd prefer someone smaller and speedy and skilled to another lumbering PWF. Invites never hurt though.

Yeah, his skating isn't all that good. But he is built like a tank

Funny to think some were bummed when we didn't select DeAngelo and chose Sanheim. People posit trading Sanheim as a centerpiece for some monster deal; DeAngelo was traded straight up for the #37 pick 2 seasons later, so Tampa could take a d man. Still a bit surprised. His first year in AHL, as a 20 year old, he did well on the stats sheet.

Could be a good trade. Could be one no one cares about in 3 years

Isn't he still like 5'9"-10". Either way a bit surprised they traded him

Actually they traded Rychel for a bag of (frank)ing nothing. Harrington is expected to be waived by Columbus and if he gets claimed, Toronto gives them a 5th

I'd like to look at a prolific scorer like Brayden Burke.

Pretty amazing to think the Flyers essentially got 3 first round talents this year: Rubtsov, Laberge, Myers

I was so worried about them being good, because Kekalainen had such a great rep in St Louis. They're run like a tire fire.

They think that a gritty, hard-nosed team appeals to their fanbase and that they can win that way

They want guys who WANT to be there, who want to be Blue Jackets. Not sure that's as easy a sell as they'd like

They need to go BPA and the rest will work itself out. Can't believe they didn't trade back from three before making that pick.

Have to say Florida has done a great job of remaking their D the last few weeks:

Matheson - Ekblad
Yandle - Petrovic
_____ - Pysyk

That could be a (frank)ing good top 5. All good possession players. Given their front office shakeup hiring young guns....SHOCKER!

When they finish last in the Metro this upcoming season, that will likely be the end of the Kekalainen era

Somebody needs to offer sheet Seth Jones

This league astounds me -- they didn't make a move to free up cap space. While they still can, you have to make them pay for all the NMCs they have if they don't

Agreed. As a team that will tend to be closer to the floor, I applaud them for not locking themselves in to guys with limited puck skills on the back end. At some point, teams who can't spend have to at least try to see if going all-in on analytics is something that can work

They can't buy themselves out of mistakes, and to me, I think overpaying guys with limited puck skills is the worst thing cap floor teams can do
