Yak seems like the exact opposite of what Hexy would want

Charlie from BSH was tweeting that Bunnaman has more primary ES points/60 than McLeod. Just under Nylander. Maybe there's a bit more to him than his profile indicates.....silver linings ?

We have enough 200 ft grit though this draft, can we mix it up? Maybe 100 ft grit?

Kind of confused why we traded a 4th this year for a 4th next year....is that good value? It may or may not be a better draft, but by the 4th round, it's a crapshoot. Feel like we could've gotten a 6th this year or something too.

Meh. I can just as easily ask how many 5'7" players manage to get projected as high as he did? Two way street. Flyers had three picks and they choose to take the big gamble on a goalie instead of a skill forward. I don't think goalie was that huge of a need for us right now to burn a 2nd on.

Either you trust your board, or you don't

I don't know enough to agree or disagree on these players, but for the most part, these are the same people who picked Ghost and Lindberg

Stolarz is developing, but it sounds like they could lose him via expansion draft. Taking a gamble on a projectable goalie...we can disagree. But at some point, we have to acknowledge that second-rounders have about a 1 in 3 chance of making it anyway, and if the Flyers thought the goalie was the right call, have some faith that it works the way it could

I would rather dive into UFA.
- roenick97

Fair enough. I don't want Yak either but I could sort of see them justifying the move if they made it.

This is a weird draft. Seems like they have system depth more in mind than anything. Nothing wrong with that. I just think we're all used to seeing forwards picked with the immediate future in mind.

What team was the trade with? Maybe they're banking on that team sucking next year? Even then, yeah gotta get a 6th or something. Strange move.

It was the Islanders I think....not like it'll be a high pick.

Not the prospects, team. Trades, type of selections, got 'your guy' etc.

I love the Hextall draft so far, getting BAP and filling needs for the future at the same time. I love the consistent theme with players with decent size and skating.

Mostly happy no picks were given away for Yakapoo.

I agree, but ultimately, it's a results oriented business. Hextall is building a good staple of prospects, but if they don't turn out, or the team doesn't rise to one of the top teams in the league, it's simply not going to matter.

This is why i'm not overly gushy... We need to see results.

Hogberg is not on Black Book and not ranked on Central Scouting, but we took a 5th on him. I was confused and searched for anything resembling a scouting report. This is the definition of boom potential in the 5th.

Hogberg is very young for this draft class, being born 11 days before the cutoff -- which helps his cause. As discussed many times, the difference of 6-8 months is huge in the development of 17 and 18-year-olds.

As we can see from his numbers in U20 SuperElit league, Hogberg is an offensive defenceman who isn't afraid to jump in the rush. He finished the season with the 11th most points amongst defenceman in the SuperElit with all the players around him being ranked by NHL CSS. He also saw two regular season games and one playoff game in the SHL.

He has the size and skating abilities to be worth the risk.

When we use pGPS to look at Hogberg, he is the highest rated of this grouping with 18.9% going on to become NHL regulars. Obviously, we don't if a team has their eye on him, but it's entirely possible that he will be available in the 6th or 7th round, and an almost 20% success rate will be very good odds at that point.

At the same age (both are late summer b-days), Hogberg outperformed Klingberg. Obviously Klingberg took giant steps the next couple years, but this is an interesting one. So so young. Great point production, under the radar, skills and skating on the back end.
