Hextall has been reliable so far. I'll wait and see how these guys pan out before making any judgements

The theme is getting obvious: good size, 2-way play, tenacious forechecking, low ceiling

Maybe he's going to add the skill via trade or FA

Well then you pay a premium. These are low cost assets. If they turn out to be 4th liners, it's an easy to find skillset in FA or abroad or w/e.

I don't have a problem selecting a couple more high floor, low ceiling players to use as bottom 6 guys. Not in the 3rd or 4th though. That's too early.

Still pissed about DeBrincat. With 3 picks in the 2nd I don't know how you pass up that chance.

Maybe he wants the skill now not in 3 years. I don't know I'm just throwing poop at the wall haha

I definitely would like to see a "pure goal scorer" but I am not at all unhappy with taking two way tenacious players.

We won't be Cup contenders for 3+ years though. We really do need some pure skill with boom upside. There's far too many late round stars to just go with safe, steady Eddie's each pick with bottom 6 upside. You don't get Jamie Benns or John Klingbergs doing that.

I mean, he can get a skilled FA and a skilled prospect. Don't have to be mutually exclusive. How many Ryan White's would you trade for 1 Pavelski or Benn or Klingberg?

Because he's 5-7 and for every Johnny Gaudreau, there's 10 guys who don't make it?

I mean, come on. People say size doesn't matter, but actually, yeah it does. I have to trust that a team that has not been afraid to do things they haven't always done such as draft Russians early, and took smallish players like Giroux and Gagne in their draft years...they're not afraid of risks.

But come on. How many 5-7 guys make it to the NHL? Seriously. Be honest. Yeah, you can burn a pick on him, but seriously: How many 5-7 guys make it?

Sounded like they said a 4th for 2017. But there must be more to it.

Hate to say it but if this is the way they're gonna draft(200ft players before anything else) then maybe they are kicking tires on Yak as a low cost influx of skill.

Have to imagine at least 1 pick will be for a d man. Probably 2. There's a couple really good upside ones left.

So, I'm hoping for someone like Jesper Bratt, Ty Ronning, Sokolov, Matthew Philips, Tanner Laczynski, Kyle Maksimovich, Domenic Commisso, Jack Walker if they go FWD.

Some upside picks.

Meh. I can just as easily ask how many 5'7" players manage to get projected as high as he did? Two way street. Flyers had three picks and they choose to take the big gamble on a goalie instead of a skill forward. I don't think goalie was that huge of a need for us right now to burn a 2nd on.

I would rather dive into UFA.
