Who says I hate him? I have his jersey. I have defended him for years. However, I have come to the conclusion after watching Murray and what he did ... now is the time to move MAF because we have a better, younger goalie. MAF doesn't win the Cup for us this year IMO if he was healthy.

New gut feeling -- IF Fleury is traded this offseason, perhaps JR prefers NHL players instead of picks? It does seem like most of his trades in his history are pure hockey deals.

Trading MAF would make more sense because you don't have to trade Murray; you don't have to worry about losing your top goalie in expansion and you save $$ in the process, enough to make some changes. Not a hard concept.

Don't get the people who think keeping MAF is a good thing and prefer trading the better, more controllable and cheaper goalie. That isn't smart.

Now through next season when Elliot is struggling & the Flames are trying to get to the playoffs, JR asks Flower to waive his NTC & trades him to the Flames for Elliot & a first. We then have a back up (as Martox alluded to), the Flames have their preferred option & Flower is the man & gets them to the playoffs!! Muzza has established himself & is a confident #1 & we go win the cup again!

People are also forgetting that MAF has some control here. Maybe he was asked for his list and he declined to go to Calgary. Maybe Dallas too. Dallas hasn't even made a move yet.

If Fleury is still here next year he will be the starting goalie. Just because you hate Fleury doesnt change that he is the better goalie.

Fleury is not the better goalie and hes a decade older. There is really not a tough decision here. Just because you love Fleury doesn't change the fact that he's not the better goalie.

It just means the Pens like a couple of defense that should still be available at 55 and maybe even at 60. Not really committing to picking a D but saying that their are good options remaining.
