Why can"t they? They have the ability to talk to any available player they want just like every other team in the league.

If Pitts and Tampa don't do their due diligence and trade their older goalies then that would leave LV wide open to steal Murray, Vasilevsky, and say Halak. That is playoff caliber goaltending. They could even trade one of Murray and Vasilevsky for an impact forward or dman. There is no reason what so ever for Pittsburgh and Tampa to be so nonchalant about their goaltending situation. The consequences are dire. The time to act is now, be preemptive. Having to add a sweetner for someone to take MAF next June or worse losing Murray to expansion is a collapse in judgement and intelligence that the team would take years to recover from. Anyone who wants Fleury on the team at the beginning of the season with all that is at stake is a sentimental fool, period. |

Buffalo has 12 mill to drop on Stamkos and a better/ younger team |

So... am I reading this correctly.... but did Arizona give up THEIR 2nd rounder next season, just to move up 4 spots... while eating the Dats contract? - Guile
Eating Datsyuk's contract is actually very valuable to a team like Arizona, they can now get to the 54M cap floor while only spending 46.5M.

Thats the wrong attitude and loser mentality. You are just asking for the worst to happen if you are not preemptive in getting things done. - Dcoms
Hmmm. They just won the Stanley Cup. The GM is GM of the year.
And we are....talking on a hockey blog.
I think the Pens have this one right. Pushing for "something to happen" without a solid plan in place is a receipe for disaster.
When the "mentality" just won the Cup, ask yourself who is the "loser." |

So basically what your saying is that the GM who just won GM of the year for the amazing job he did rebuilding the roster and turning the team into a Cup winner is clueless? There's a reason he's paid millions to run the franchise and we're not.

How is it not worth it? They should just not even try to talk to anyone to see where they're at and what they would need to do to make it possible? God your clueless.

The only thing you get in return for MAF is a draft pick and cap relief. Why does keeping MAF = exposing Murray? They just buy out MAF and take the cap hit (currently about $1.7 million per year according to general fanager) if its March and he doesnt want a trade or to waive his NMC then and they want to protect Murray.
What is the advantage to trading him now?
To put this in perspective, they pay 1.3 million or so of Scuderi's contract right now. |

Bishop has a NMC. MAF can list 18 teams for which he'll allow a trade. There was ONE goalie trade tonight and Calgary hasn't been (in recent years) a preferred destination. You can complain all you want, but Bishop and MAF have most of the control. There's 3 parties involved in a trade for these guys. |

Per Yohe from JR
“No,” he said. “We’re going to have our nose right up against the cap. We’ll maybe be a little active on the first of July, but it’s not going to be one of the top guys. It’ll be maybe some other guys that we’ll look at, but we’re not going to interview anybody.”
So basically you are clueless! |

Saying they can't do it and them saying they aren't going to do it is 2 completely different things, they have the ability to talk to and even sign anyone they want but they're choosing to stand pat with pretty much the same roster they just won with, at least for now.
So clearly it still sits with you being the clueless variable in the equation. |

An excellent question? I'll go check that one out.
Also, if MAF would be asked to waive his NMC to go Calgary, or elsewhere, why wouldnt he waive it to spend two years in Vegas? |
