Agree it just seems like things are going in the direction of losing players for nothing.

The salary cap is way to low. If I'm a NHL player i would not be happy.

I'm ok with losing key players but to lose them for nothing is insane. When is the last time a player like Stamkos just walked with no compensation back to his original team?

Yzerman did the right thing by not trading stamkos. His #1 priority is to win a stanley cup and you dont trade a superstar if you have a chance to win a cup. If Bishop did not get hurt and Stamkos did not get that extremely rare blood clot (10 days before the playoffs and past the trade deadline) we would have won it all. But thats life.

I agree and disagree. Yzerman has a responsibility to build the orgainzation for the long run which means compete for a cup year in and year out. No guarantee to ever win a cup or make the playoffs so you have to make sure you manage for now and later. You can't lose a player like Stamkos for nothing. Chicago stays competitive and they move players for picks or prospects, they don't just lose players like its shaping up for Stamkos. I would be curious when the last time a team lost a 26 year old talent like this for nothing was.

You are forgetting that Stammer holds all the trump cards, Yzerman can't trade someone that doesn't want to move.

All of these guys are professionals. If Tampa wants him gone Stamkos would waive. Nobody wants to be where they aren't wanted. Stamkos would give a small list but he would accept it, all players do.
