Trade Crawford and Kruger at full cap hit and Stan can add to the defense group, add a Top 6 LW for 4-5mil and then fill in with NHL Veteran UFA depth at $1mil each.

Ladd at 4years x $5mil
Matt Cullen, Brad Richards, Dominic Moore, Colton Scevior, or Chris Kelly at 1 yr x $1mil
Campbell at 1 year x $1.5mil
Chad Johnson @ 1mil x 1 yr

Ladd-Toews-Hossa
Panarin-Anisimov-Kane
Panik-Richards/Cullen-Schmaltz
Desi-Moose-Hartman

Keith-Seabs
Campbell-Hammer
Kempny-TVR

Darling
Chad Johnson

Anyone have any better ideas? Starting to think the Hawks are up poop creek....

Stan Bowman described trading Andrew Shaw as a "very tough day" and a "difficult decision."

Stan Bowman won't say for sure that all current roster players are now safe, but says, "We don't have a cap problem anymore." #Blackhawks

interesting take. I dont think the Hawks are in the clear as much as he is indicating

I do agreee with you the Blackhawks still have gallons of Talent , a true #1 goalie for now in CC , but the holes on D are undeniable , and if CC gets hurt or Kane gets hurt again , The depth is not there like years before . I think thats what most people feel

Ugh that line up is so slow. Frank the cap. Also don't think the Shaw deal was all that great. Bowman had no choice. No way we can sigh him for that. His only option was to trade him. So Bowman traded him instead of holding onto him way too long. Whoopieeeeee. Bowman showed he was competent nothing more. This wasn't some cutthroat deal. Now he will sit on his hands and wait around as he watches other GMs make moves to try and improve and get infront of the cap. Yawn. Feels like another textbook Hawks offseason when they should be trying to make moves to get out of this cap hell.

Yea , just wanted to get that quote in here , hadnt seen that anywhere else yet , stopped following Laz and Cuk. I stay with Tracys feed just for confirmation if anything else reported by someone else Hawks related she usually follows up with a confirmation and doesnt post too much other bullpoop throughout the day like that pussbag Laz

GM speak. Everyone and their mother knows that the 'Hawks are hovering just above cap hell. In fact, the fire and brimstone are still close enough to toast his feet.

What if Kempny is the equivalent of Panarin last season? There are uncertainties, but they are not automatically certainties. Are they the most comfortable options? No. Such is the salary cap world. All contenders are going through this

Bowman created his own cap hell with the Crawford, Bickell and now Kruger contracts. He needs to figure it out, and fast. That is why he gets paid 6 figures, and we pay his salary with every ticket, beer and piece of merchandise we buy.

To me, Crow and Kruger HAVE to go, and maybe even Anisimov...or we are looking at a top heavy team, but with WAY less at the top, and one year older. Salary cap has done it's job in making this once GREAT team into nothing more than Top 16(as they stand today).

I believe the Hawks will make a run at Martin and Campbell. I also think Stan has a trade or two up his sleeve to sign LADD before 07-01-16

Agree, sir. I have this magic-8-ball feeling that Ladd stays.

some math without Shaw:
9 forwards: Toews, Kane, Hossa, AA, Panarin, Krug, Lundberg, Desi, Panik
6 D: Keith, Seab, Hammer, Kempny, TVR, Sved, Gus
2 G: Craw and Darling
Carry-over bonuses, Scuderi,
The above is $66.7m
Leaves $6.3m for 4 more F, one more D.

So JJ's comment is spot on. Trading Shaw didnt help the Cap issues for Hawks, it just stopped them from getting worse.

And understanding the numbers above, you can see there is no room for Ladd without another trade. Even at $3.5m for Ladd, that only leaves $700k/player for the last 4 roster spots. Even the good Rockford players are too expensive for that space.

Man, trading Crawford is the only solution I can stomach. Hate the thought of moving Krug, or AA, or god forbid anyone bigger (Seab, etc). And it seems the Craw trade ship sailed tonight with other goalie trades.

I 100% agree Enzo. Do you think the Crow to Calgary was legit and Crow waived it?

About as realistic as any I have seen.

To be honest I'm hoping Ladd prices himself out.

This is the White Sox/ Bulls dilemma over the last several years - treading water with a core and tinkering around the edges. I would rather they take a half step back by dealing Seabrook, Crawford, and Kruger and reset. Otherwise I am not very optimistic
