Is this going to a another draft day where Stan sits on his hands??

We still have cap issues....no #1 LW....still need a proven D man....

Yak can't do much of anything

I agree with you, but I watched him in Junior the kid can play. I think he is lacking confidence and a mentor. Somebody like Hossa or a Toews might be all the kid needs. He has great speed with the puck, but lacks player recognition right now and I believe all the kid needs is a change of scenery. Playing with another talented Russian in Panarin along with the veteran leadership the core has I think its worth a shot for the year left in his contact. If he starts to excel which I believe he will you sign him to a cap friendly 3 or 4 year deal around mid season. If he doesn't do well it cost you one 2nd rounder and we will still have to more 2nds this draft.

Just as I have met plenty of Americans who gloat about their country's accomplishments. There is really no sense in bragging. That goes for every country

Boy are Habs going to be a team that annoys the feces out of everyone. Subban, Shaw....and I'm missing another lil scrapper? For what they lack in offensive production (outside of Pac) they will make up for in 'tude.
- phantasmo

I see Shaw poopkicking Subban in practice at some point.

Well, fairly uneventful night for the hawks, Losing Shaw was expected and Stan got a good return. Tomorrow morning will be better as we have plenty of picks.
- bhawk1s

From Montreal's side, they traded Eller and 2 downgraded second round draft selections for Shaw......

IMO Motte is much closer to being NHL ready than Schmaltz.

OK, but neither is the answer at 1LW. Can we stop this group hallucination, please?

Gotta add a top 6 winger. HAVE TO.

If one other person says Schmaltz, my head is gonna explode.

- John Jaeckel

I don't see how you can get a quality top 6 winger without trading a key player (Kruger included). It's filling one hole and creating another. Let's say they trade Kruger or Anisimov to get a Ladd or Okposo, then they need another center which they won't be able to afford.

I think top 6 winger is the hole I'd rather have versus center or top 4 D.

Comments from Elliott's agent make it sound like he asked for a trade. WOW.

Who has been passing out the 'schrooms at their draft party?

So you think Ladd is (more/less/no change) likely to come back since Shawzy is gone?

"We had positive talks with the team. We've got a good relationship with Doug and his staff. They really worked in good faith. We're thankful for Brian's time in St. Louis. Now it's his time to grow."

Armstrong confirmed that Elliott's camp asked for a change if it was possible.

Sounds like the exit interview/contract extension conversations didn't go well earlier this month.

This 100%... your 2nd line is your goal scoring #1 line on other teams.

Ya I've been trying to say 2LW bc there is NO WAY the Hawks add a LW that is better than Panarin. It's like saying Kane is the 2RW....

Seems to me that the best way to plug the left wing hole was to trade CC and run with Darling, Trading anywhere else makes another hole that we don't have anyone else to fill.

I know that silly, just my opinion Motte's closer to being ready than Scmaltz, in a bottom six role. Don't think Scmaltz is even ready for a bottom six role yet.

Getting a wee bit testy aye!

Also, there has been enough inconsistency with Bickell. Vanek will only rekindle that.

Enzo,

My turn to start hitting the booze I think...Army just said that "he [Allen] wants to be here, he wants to be the guy. I believe that before the start of next season we'll have something [long term contract extension] done."

Let's just say I'm not sold on him being the answer for the future.

When conversation revolves around Vanek, that's not the talk of someone interested in competing for a Cup run.

I hear you on this, but no chance a guy straight out of juniors/NCAA will slot in the 1LW, at least neither of those guys. Maybe with a yearish in the Rock/bottom 6 role to get acclimated they have a chance late in the year. Need established players for that role, not going to be able to learn on the fly with Toews/Hoss.
