TRADE ANNOUNCED!!! COME ON STAN!!!! - EnzoD
How about Holland. He can get rid of $7.5M dead cap space and Stan can't trade a live body, with a current deal. Wow! |

Hawks really need to get Kruger off of their hands, I don't see why everybody's so high on him anyway, it's not like he racks up a lot of points or anything like that. This team needs more scorers, not more penalty killers and goons. They're also stupid if they can make the playoffs with a third round pick from three years ago with almost zero AHL experience on their third line, they should just dump Tyler Motte while they're at it as well. We need more proven veterans or at least established young guns, not more unnamed guys without meaningful hockey experience. |

Amazing. So much dead weight traded over the past few years and the best the Hawks can do is unload elite young talent to get others to take on our dead weight. |

Because Bickell had to be paid 4.5 million too. Datsyuk has no salary attached to his contract because he left for the KHL. So that 7.5 million helps AZ get to the cap floor without having to pay a dime. Much different than Bickell situation |

True, but Detroit's also not a contender either....probably a little easier to do a deal with them. |

Can the Hawks do a Datsyuk with Hossa at some point???
Just ride off into the sunset as another team pays your fictional salary to noone... |

Arizona gets the cap hit they want to reach floor and don't have to pay the salary. Detroit wins that trade though - kevndevries
Genius move by Detroit but this is the bull poo that drives me crazy:
The NHL makes every team bear the shame of its dog poo contracts (Bickell, Clarkson, Brown, etc.) but they allow AZ to trade for a dead contract that allows them to NOT pay actual $$$ and only spend $47M and field a crappy team.
And the quality of NHL hockey is SOOO high and the playing field SOOOO level that you have this POS franchise in the desert that was been propped up for years by the NHL that we need a NEW POS team in the desert says Emperor Bettman. Got it |

A lot closer to the floor. Losers. - blackhawk24
Yep. The league needs to raise the cap floor. They really need to hold teams to a higher standard. Especially if they are going to allow fake contracts to be traded. |

You know, I try not to be bitter about the cap, but sometimes it's a little irritating to have to have a hard cap to prop up teams like this....it is what it is I guess.

The rules , or semblance of reasonable rules, don't apply to teams that are (were) effectively owned and managed directly by the league. Unbelievable. |

I think they might flip Datstyuk, assuming Pavel wanted to play for someone in the NHL still |

I'd love to see what another GM could have accomplished the last few years. Stan gets so much credit, but not from me. IMO, they've won in spite of him, for the most part. Core keeps getting bigger, and good luck with the Seabs deal. Wonder what they're gonna have to add to move him in a couple years. |

Honestly, do we have any shot of making next year's playoffs with our current roster, which is pathetic aside from Toews, Kane, Hossa, Panarin, Anisimov, Keith, Seabrook, Hjalmarsson, TvR and Crow. Also, bringing back Brian Campbell would be pretty worthless considering his age, price and diminishing abilities. |
