Bolland: FLA - 5yr x 5mil AAV, UFA in 2022 w/ modified NTC
Frolik: CAL - 5yr x 4.3mil AAV, UFA in 2021
Saad: CBJ - 6yr x 6.0mil AAV, UFA in 2022
Brouwer: WSH - 3yr x 3.6mil AAV, UFA in 2017 w/ modified NTC (waived for Blues)


Leddy: NYI - 7yr x 5.5mil AAV, UFA in 2023
Byfuglien: 1st contract w/ WPG - 5yr x 5.2mil,
re-upped for 5yr x 7.6mil w/ NMC/modified NTC

Seriously, these are types of deals guys sign when they are moved from the Hawks and the reason why the Hawks are continually running up against the cap.

Not trying to argue a few of the deals were a bit more than you might want them to be, but when other teams value players (in a hard cap league), the ability to retain talent is very difficult.

This is so true, pretty close to impossible to have any kind of dynasty in the salary cap NHL. The Hawks have really done an incredible job of winning 3 in the past 7 and hopefully more to come.
