I hope they can get into the first round next April.
I'm not feeling very good right now about Stan feint able to make the moves necessary to having an improved - or even not drastically worse - team than last year - or of being able to clear enough space to have Panarin back for 2017-18.
Too many high-priced contracts with NMC/NTC clauses. - StLBravesFan
I think you're correct about the NMC/NTCs. He has to stop handing those out like candy. I think they will make the POs but Bowman really needs to get his act together before he ends up giving up Schmaltz (just hyperbole).

Read it again:
He says the Hawks may have to plan....not they have a plan.
At least that's how I read it. - StLBravesFan
Read it that way too - sorry didn't mean to mislead. Think the Hine piece is like the rumors from Laz/Meyers/Powers - lots of smoke from conventional sources. That's what I meant to offer it up as. |

Elliott contract makes it even easier...just sayin' - Jason Millen
If I'm Calgary this might be my first choice. Elliott can give a team solid goaltending, can work in a platoon system (when Gillies comes up in 2 years) and at 31 is only a 2.5 cap hit and a UFA in 2017/18. If he would agree to a 3 yr extension at maybe 3.5 or 4 they have a reliable guy who can help groom and be a safety net for Gillies.
This move makes most sense to me of the goalies who MIGHT be available.

Absolutely agree. Don't have much to add. I'm with you on this train of thought |

Any conversations with Cro or his agent would have begun awhile ago, they didn't start today. And he knows they are in a cap squeeze so nothing is surprise news or an agenda he wasn't aware of.
And if he asked for advice from players, I'm sure Patrick Sharp would have given him some counselling. - RickJ
Ok, (was going to start with "so" but that drives me crazy) per JJ Crawford has a MNTC, I wonder if he was asked for a list or did we just ask him about Calgary and he said no. |

Enzo. I think Hawks make a move to get into the late first round and take German Rubstov. |

I would have thought CC would take the Calgary trade. Gorgeous city with a decent team. |

LOL I also think that Laine is going to be a higher point producer than Matthews. The guy can flat out finish. I'm very unhappy that he will be in the Central Division |

If the Hawks decide they want to keep or can't move CC, do they have no choice but to move Shaw, Kruger, and AA for cap space to address roster needs and create cap for Panarin? |

My feeling is if they talked to Crawford he will be gone. That's a rabbit hole you wouldn't want to go down otherwise. - Al
Yeah my thought exactly. |

Seabs, as much as I hate to say it now. That contract is going to be bad the latter half, abysmal the last quarter. |

Various folks on Twitter saying (speculating) that the 2nd may be Paliarvi (however you say it - the other Fin). Some thought that Columbus wants same guy so hence conversations between GMs. Could all be a feint too. |

How far out do you think their AHL'er is, two yrs? It'd come down to MAF especially since CC won't waive and Ell / Bis would want more term. - blackhawk24
Who knows now with what Murray did this year. But man I wouldn't wanna climb out on a limb thinking a kid like Gillies, as blue chipper as a goalie can be, can be my #1 in 1-2 years without a big safety net.
If I'm CAL I do an Elliott, extend him for 3yrs with an eye to Gillies in 2 years and Elliott as his safety net.

McKenzie verified Twitter:
There is talk on the draft floor, as yet unconfirmed, that CBJ prospect Sonny Milano has been traded.
There has been talk that they want Puliarvi (sp) and might trade up to get him or down if he's not available. If Milano is traded are CBJ going up to 2? |
