If the Hawks cannot get into the first round, I hope they can garner a couple more picks in the 2nd.
- 93Joe

I hope they can get into the first round next April.

I'm not feeling very good right now about Stan feint able to make the moves necessary to having an improved - or even not drastically worse - team than last year - or of being able to clear enough space to have Panarin back for 2017-18.

Too many high-priced contracts with NMC/NTC clauses.

On another note, Matt Tkachuk is an engaging kid with a great personality. Loved the interview with him just now. Wish the Hawks drafted 4th.

Could get Reimer to sign a cheap-ish 2 year deal, too.

Reimer has never started more than 40 games in a season. If someone pays him 5+ they are stupid. The likelihood is that Reimer takes 3-4M AAV on a short term deal to prove he can handle a bigger workload.

Interesting, and that could all be true.

I will stick by the narrative though—what I've heard, kind of quietly from a couple of sources is that tonight would not be the first time they had talked to Crawford about this possibility and that he was sort of being a "pro" about it.

That "impression" could be wrong. But that is/was my takeaway.

- John Jaeckel

My feeling is if they talked to Crawford he will be gone. That's a rabbit hole you wouldn't want to go down otherwise.

Read somewhere where Bishop plays big first (7 footer) and good second. Interesting way to put it I thought.

Can't deny his numbers or how well he played vs the Hawks. I'll say this he'll have my respect forever playing on one leg vs the Hawks in the Finals and playing very well. Those groin injury hurt every second of every day no mater what you are doing.

By the way best of luck with that knee, Al.

All this talk about trading Bishop, Fleury, Crawford and we all know the reasons are financial. What is overlooked is how physically tough the position is and how easy to get injured with the crashing and banging in the crease that is permitted now.

What happens if Darling goes down after 10 games or Vasiliewsky gets injured long term in December. If a team doesn't have a major league backup who can carry the mail it won't matter much how good the rest of the squad is, they don't go very far.

So seller beware.

Shaw is so gone! Now @ChrisHine says Hawks have a plan to replace 'irreplaceable' Shaw. That's pretty much everyone weighing in - Laz / Sin Times, Meyers / CSN, Powers / theathletic.com (and formerly ESPN Chgo) and now the Tribune.

Think maybe there's a reason that the Hawks have been quietly signing goalies the last couple weeks?

Montreal provided the perfect proving ground for what can happen to your team if you #1 goes down for any length of time

From the outside looking in, the problem I see with Bowman making trades is that his focus is more on individual trades than the overall big picture. In other words he may have to lose a trade to achieve the big picture objective but he seems incapable of understanding that and executing trades accordingly. If the math is such that CC needs to be traded in order to extend Panarin, then giving CC away for nothing would be the better big picture move to make rather than trying to get more for CC and not free enough cap space to extend Panarin ... or kicking the can down the road on Panarin's extension and risk having to give Panarin a bigger AAV or possibly lose him to an offer sheet.

1. Priority#1.
2. Execute.

3. Priority#2.
4. Execute.

And so on ...

The Swedish goalie they signed looks more than capable of being a backup in the NHL. Could be part of the plan if they move Crawford.

Read it again:

He says the Hawks may have to plan....not they have a plan.

At least that's how I read it.

or any oxycontin.....regardless... Does spending too much time with Pierre invariably put you in some sort of rehab?
