If that was the case those stories come out....They don't stay under wraps.
If there is more smoke from numerous sources than I would think Crawford could be gone...Otherwise I wouldn't bank on it.
No need to mess with the psyche of any player especially a goaltender unless you must trade him. |

That I don't know, but it sounded to me, definitely, it was a case of Crawford not wanting to be THERE - John Jaeckel
Any ideas on where he'd be willing to go? Buffalo? NYI? Anywhere else that needs a G? |

I'm watching DAL closely. I think Nill will give up a solid sweetener to get rid of Lethomen or Nieme. He's gotta think he's close now, the cap will be a problem in 2017/18 (Benn and Sharp UFA's) and he can't think of getting another goalie this year until he moves one of his problem goalies first. - Mr Ricochet
They are choking on those two...

Hearing it involves RNH. Last time I checked, EDM was high on Dumba/Brodin. |

He should know he won't be winning in Chicago. That kind of stuff is a bit hypocritical. Winners want to win then take less money to win in a hard cap era.
If that Calagary stuff is true. Bowman is franked.
He really painted himself into a corner and now the ceiling above that corner is caving in and flood waters are quickly seeping in from below. - bhawks2241
Well then look no further than 19/88. Could've easily taken 9-9.5/yr they didn't. Yet I'm sure everyone here views them as winners. Every other contract (with exception of Hammers that's a hometown discount right there), could've been signed for 500-750k less.
As fans, myself included, forget this is their livelihood. They have a limited earning window. While we all want them to take less money to stay, it's just not the reality. |

Calgary doesn't want to leave BUFF without a goalie. Flames fortunate this is a year where teams have expansion draft complications.

Any ideas on where he'd be willing to go? Buffalo? NYI? Anywhere else that needs a G? - matt_ahrens
1) the nature of a conversation with a player and his agent re: waiving is not always the same—nor always publicized.
2) sometimes when a player is asked to waive it gets publicized. Sometimes it doesn't. Fact.
3) My (admittedly sort of vague) understanding going back to LAST summer is that Crawford has known he might be a cap casualty last summer or this summer and that he would work with the Hawks on it—if it became necessary,

Well, they supposedly had a deal done with TB for Bishop 2-3 days ago that I think mckenzie was all over. Aaaaaand?
I will also reiterate what I said the other day too. He (typically) doesn't have his finger "on the pulse" of the Blackhawks.
I don't know that the Hawks will do a deal w Calgary for CC. But ask yourself, all else being equal (and mostly the money is), if you could choose one?
Crawford
Elliott
Bishop
Fleury
I think at least 50% of the time, people will answer Crawford. Hockey people maybe more so. - John Jaeckel
Tough to figure how CAL will go. They have what seems to be a stud in Jon Gilles who was total lights out for 3 years at Providence and had a cup of coffee in the AHL at the end of last season.
Crawford is inked for through 2019/20.
Fluery inked through 2018/19.
Elliot and Bishop are UFA's after next year.
I don't think CAL wants a 1 yr rental but do they want a #1 inked for 3-4 years with a probable future #1 playing in the AHL?
Tough call.........

BUT it is a double edge sword. Complain about not having a certain type of player on your team. Complain about not having continuity and having too many guys on and off your line (cough Toews). Allegedly refuse to waive a NTC b/c you want to win. These guys do this crap but still want to max out their contracts.
Cant have your cake and eat it too. Toews wants to complain about poopty linemates he and a few teamates need to look in the mirror for the reason why.
Max out your value. Take a big contract but when your team is middling because they are up against the cap don't complain. Don't give the line all I want to do is win championships. It is a load of crap. They want to get paid. Winning is always secondary with the exception of a very rare few like #4. |

If they are serious they don't ask once and it gets done...usually it gets out, agents talk to protect their players. If the Calgary story is true that's only part of the plan and they wouldn't have asked unless they want Crawford gone.
When Campbell was dealt the only feasible target was Florida...But first story that broke or was planted...Was Campbell to Columbus. I'm sure Florida looked like a much better option to Campbell afterwards. |
