What are the chances that a player (Crawford, in this case) wants so badly not to leave that he gives a list of teams that are clearly not in need of his services? Would that happen? |

Trading CC just got a little harder than it already was..... Other GMs know Stan is a little more desparate now , so offers will be lower... If CC did refuse to waive .... it will be a little awkward with him on the team going forward... - bhawk1s
That too. Another problem is he may have to move someone who he had "farther back" on his list now. This just got a bit more complicated. |

Is Backlund anywhere near the physical presence that Toews/Kane allegedly lobbied the FO for? If not, maybe he's a 3C and they lose an expensive Dman (Seabrook) to fill LW? - phantasmo
No, but he has good size and in no way plays small. He's a bigger, more skilled (kind of a tweener 2C-3C), probably better skating Kruger. Excellent PK guy. .......Guy checks a lot of boxes.

Can't blame him. He looked at a photo of Brian Burke and said Nyet! - RickJ

Why would that be?
Winners want to win. If I am CC, I take my chances on a team with 19/88, or an equivalent. Problem is, they all have good goalies too, have no cap either, or the return is not enough.
And as mentioned in the beginning of your post, it is going to get even harder. |

Very high IMO. Girlfriend and her family from Chicago, fan appreciation, good team to play on, good team to play for, soft as white bread media. |

That I don't know, but it sounded to me, definitely, it was a case of Crawford not wanting to be THERE - John Jaeckel
So could the 'Hawks even trade CC for just a first, nothing else, to a team he'd waive to go? |

Agree, likely where the "long night " comment came from. Now Stan has to weigh any diminished return for Crawford against returns he can get by moving other parts etc. |

That was when they brought in Barnaby and Cullimore...wasn't it. Those 3 were the character and grit to turn things around? |

I did not hear confirmation that he refused to waive. What I did hear was sort of vaguely it wasn't a place he wanted to go. Source was not sure of the exact story re: that. |

He should know he won't be winning in Chicago. That kind of stuff is a bit hypocritical. Winners want to win then take less money to win in a hard cap era.
If that Calagary stuff is true. Bowman is franked.
He really painted himself into a corner and now the ceiling above that corner is caving in and flood waters are quickly seeping in from below. |

Gonna be Bishop, Fleury, Niemi or Bernier. Sounds like if CC is in that mix, the FO is asking too much in return versus the other teams. - Return of the Roar
I'm watching DAL closely. I think Nill will give up a solid sweetener to get rid of Lethomen or Nieme. He's gotta think he's close now, the cap will be a problem in 2017/18 (Benn and Sharp UFA's) and he can't think of getting another goalie this year until he moves one of his problem goalies first.
