Per source, Crawford to Flames was close but Crawford did not waive NTC. #WOW

There you go. Stan tried. Keep trying Stanley!

Source says there's been no progress on Blackhawks' negotiations with Andrew Shaw prior to draft. We'll see what unfolds in next few hours

I cant see Bowman holding on to shaw throughout the draft if they are that far off

- hawkeytalkman

Why?

Qualify him at 2.5 on Monday, wouldn't that put the Hawks in a better position? I mean if you can trade him for #1 today, go ahead, anything but that I think I would just qualify him.

Source ended note with: "could be a long night." Not sure exactly what that means.

Started note with "Calgary OUT on Crawford" Which might suggest, as this source has maintained all along, that there are/were more than one teams IN.

I would still watch Buffalo and a couple of Eastern teams.

Bottom line I would not breathe easy because if the money forces it and Bowman
doesn't make some other move(s) they might end up having to basically give him away to someone.

- John Jaeckel

From the outside looking in, the problem I see with Bowman making trades is that his focus is more on individual trades than the overall big picture. In other words he may have to lose a trade to achieve the big picture objective but he seems incapable of understanding that and executing trades accordingly. If the math is such that CC needs to be traded in order to extend Panarin, then giving CC away for nothing would be the better big picture move to make rather than trying to get more for CC and not free enough cap space to extend Panarin ... or kicking the can down the road on Panarin's extension and risk having to give Panarin a bigger AAV or possibly lose him to an offer sheet.

1. Priority#1.
2. Execute.

3. Priority#2.
4. Execute.

And so on ...

Gotta give him credit Z. Think Crawford will only go to a contender. Can't really blame him either...

Missed that part of it. Ya I guess you'd have to know what the most he could get rewarded.

He has played both wings, but I haven't watched him enough to say if he's better on one side or the other. You'd have to think he might be willing to take a 1-year deal on the cheap if the Wild owe him $4.33M over the next two years not to play for them.
- MartiniMan

John Tavares made Vanek into a decent LW for awhile.

In addition to being hugely lazy, Vanek is a moped running in the Indy 500. There is no salary cheap enough to interest the Hawks in this dog.

Or Calgary doesn't like what Stan is offering/asking?
- blackhawk24

That I don't know, but it sounded to me, definitely, it was a case of Crawford not wanting to be THERE

7 years/$7M? Doesn't Calgary have contract extensions coming up for Gudreau and Monahan? The Crawford contract makes things minimally more easier...

Elliott contract makes it even easier...just sayin'

Grosso reporting craw to flames was close but CC wouldnt waive ntc
- ikeane

Trading CC just got a little harder than it already was..... Other GMs know Stan is a little more desparate now , so offers will be lower... If CC did refuse to waive .... it will be a little awkward with him on the team going forward...

Big wins matter most and Crawford is way ahead.
If he was better than Crawford he would be a fixture in TB.

Cap situation with guys like Kucherov coming up and having Vasi make it a luxury to be able to deal Bishop....imho
