Hawks made out rather well in the Shaw deal. It makes you wonder whether Bergevin felt sorry for robbing us on the Danault for Weise and Fleishmann deal. - scott.jackson
Boy are Habs going to be a team that annoys the feces out of everyone. Subban, Shaw....and I'm missing another lil scrapper? For what they lack in offensive production (outside of Pac) they will make up for in 'tude. |

Gotta add a top 6 winger. HAVE TO.
If one other person says Schmaltz, my head is gonna explode. - John Jaeckel
In every single game I have ever seen Schmaltz, I've never thought top 6. Always strikes me as 3rd line. His shot has to be one of the worst of a "nhl prospect" that I have ever seen. |

What about getting YAK from Edmonton for a 2nd? I know this has been talked about over the last couple of days, but I would love to see what Panarin, AA and YAK could do. This would move Kane up to 1RW and move Hossa down to 3RW with a Kruger or Schmaltz at C and Panik on 3LW. Then you either sign Ladd at 4.5 over 4 years to play 1LW or roll the dice for a UFA. |

Just throwing salt at Enzo since it was St. Louis. Could care less about the US vs Canada issue. I have family from both sides and have spent a lot of time in both countries and love them both. |

He looked to me, granted briefly, like a nice two way prospect. But on the small side, and has zero pro experience.
The Hawks had a giant hole at 1LW, and although Shaw wasn't very good there, aside from Ladd, he was the best guy they had there and now he's gone. You CAN'T have another season with that line not contributing. |

Schmaltz's phsyical development and shot are fringe-NHL (if at all). However, I watched parts of several UND games and the way he sees the game is incredible. High motor on the backcheck too.
So maybe a rush to judgment as a savior for 2016/2017 is out of whack, but so too would be condemning him to being no more than "third line" based on his game at age 20. |

His last name alone seems like one that would be fitting for a bust. What are the chances of the Blackhawks landing a top 6 forward this offseason? |

Personally, i don't think Bowman's done yet. Done tonight. But not done for the offseason. - John Jaeckel
Lots of time left in the off season. Stan needs to make some additions to fill the departures of Shaw, Teravainen, Shaw, Weise and Fleischmann. |

thats the difference Canadians don't have to gloat we let our work speak for itself. - SaskHawkFan
Maybe YOU don't gloat, but I have met plenty of Canadian's that aren't shy about sharing the accomplishments of The Great White North in the game of ice hockey.... |

Not condemning, just saying what came to mind. Agree that his hockey iq seemed good and definitely seems to play a "200ft game". |

Just as I have met plenty of Americans who gloat about their country's accomplishments. There is really no sense in bragging. That goes for every country |

IMO Motte is much closer to being NHL ready than Schmaltz. |

Well, fairly uneventful night for the hawks, Losing Shaw was expected and Stan got a good return. Tomorrow morning will be better as we have plenty of picks. |
