wait a minute.. I said the same thing a couple days ago and was laughed at and told they are not in the same universe. - mrn22
I didn't laugh, and I said the same thing. It wouldn't be enough if we are basing it on the Hawks trade. Jimbo is right though, the contracts between Bickell & Girardi are night and day.

so what do you think? Hayes or one of the RFA's would have to be included?

Girardi is still a serviceable dman though. Bickell is a fourth line plug at this point. i know G's contract is worse than the Bickell situation, but at least a team will still be getting a player that will play this season barring injury.

If Benning takes Girardi I will stop laughing and forever hate him.
Seriously though, you'd be including one hell of a young player in that deal if it were to happen.

I agree, thats why if it came down to a buyout as the only option I would rather keep G and see how he does the next 2 years before a buyout.

Problem is you need Girardi to waive to go to Arizona so a certain bloggers head would explode.
This goal was brought to by a guy who lost his best linemate that brings the best out of his linemates by his hustle and heart. Missing Hags hurt Hayes the most.
They gotta do something today to outshine the Knicks.

Doesn't Girardi have to Ok the trade anyway? These just seem like rumors, already seeing the Vancouver thing was false unless G already has given the OK
Not an option with the expansion draft coming. Protecting Girardi is suicide - mrn22
as of right now, if they were forced to protect McDonagh, Staal and Girardi as their 3 defensemen, it would leave Klein and McIlrath as the two guys they could lose
not the end of the world really, but that's one of the reasons they should trade Klein now

Its not a great move, but its not suicide. We have no clue how some of the younger players are going to progress/regress. I think we can all agree its a crappy situation all around.

Does it have to be 3 defenseman? I thought it was some weird formula.
