I just don't understand the pick, because right now Day slots in behind Mcd, Staal(only cause he's still on the roster), Skjei and Graves. It was an area they didn't need depth in.

Well they won't trade Skjei or Mcdonagh. Doubt Staal gets moved. If they move Graves I'm really going to flip my lid. He's good. Great shot and good skater for his size.

Day was ranked in the 50s by several official prospect lists. Talent is talent and can be found in all rounds; especially the mid rounds.

It's a good pick all things considered.

Just saying that we picked McIlrath because we had no grit 6 years ago. By the time he's ready, we didn't need grit. We needed puck movers.

Day is a good pick I think. Duclair and Buchnevich both had huge question marks when they were picked.

Prospect analysis says the same. Day has a lot of talent, and size, but I think the reason he slipped is due to some "character" issues.

Those are so silly to me; Duclair had character issues as well and now many around the league praise him for his skill.
