Really liking the Blues 5th round....great gambles. Bleackley has had a lot of injury issues, dumb luck stuff (skate to wrist, knee cap issues, etc). He is a 2 way player. Expect him to play for the Wolves next year.

Same here. This is where championships are one in rounds two and on. You hit big in the fifth and you are killing it.

Allen and Schwartz (:yuck were taken earlier.

Fitzpatrick seems to have been taken about where everyone said he should go...4th goalie taken, late 2nd round or early 3rd round, etc. I don't see any Q hockey so haven't seen him play.

No time to watch them unfortunately. Don't even have enough time to research and write as much as I want for this site, lol.

Evan Fitzpatrick, Sherbrooke (QMJHL): At 6-2, 203 pounds, Fitzpatrick is a big presence in net. He likes to challenge players on initial shots and has shown confidence and poise in holding his ground and battling hard to locate the puck in traffic. A first-round pick (No. 4) in the 2014 Quebec Major Junior Hockey League draft, Fitzpatrick finished 18-26-8 with a 3.42 GAA, two shutouts and .896 save percentage in 54 regular-season games in his second season for the Phoenix. He is No. 1 on NHL Central Scouting's final ranking of North American goalies eligible for the 2016 draft.

Bleackley may be the most nhl ready pick outside the top 12.

I understand that. I find a few Saturdays here and there in the winter.

My best guess is Shattenkirk is heading to Buffalo and Amrtstrong wants more than Murray is willing to offer. I think Murray's ego is bigger than what he does and it will be problematic. He got the better of one trade and thinks he can again. I would rather skate Shatty and lose him to FA than to get underpaid.

Looks like Grigensons and Borgen have to be the starting points. If not signed then attached to sign or trade their first round pick next year. I suspect anothe prospect could be added but would have to come from Europe or NCAA.

THE ONLY REASON I want Shatty gone on a deal is to let Parayko grow more. He needs the 2nd line minutes and he will not see them if Shatty stays. I don't want to be underpaid either for him. Defensively i think Parayko might be better and he has a higher ceiling offensively also. Future top pairing. Maybe Hitch will realize this and play Parayko more to see if the kid can handle more. With 1 full year under his belt he was great, sure a few costly mistakes but they were obvious and something that can be corrected. Shatty on the other hand has never been great d wise

apparently more than a 29th pick. I was hoping for a package deal for the # 4 pick but that was a pipe dream. He is the backbone of our pp and is decent defensively. I would prefer Parayko taking his spot but as of right now that is not the case

I do not think that was a pipe dream. I think it changed when Columbus picked Dubois and left the other Finn open. That was too good to pass up fr the Oilers. Plus and maybe more inportantly Shattenkirk was unwilling to extend in Edmonton. Because of that his value to Edmonton sunk.

Would not want to sign in edmonton either. they have a history of failure since they traded Gretzky besides the year they went to the cup with Pronger.

they are going to really good this year with just some holes in their game.

some of the bottom teams are going to push this year. i doubt the canucks will be one of those teams.

Kyrou looks like a really good pick. I think if he shows well at camp they might consider giving him some nhl games before sending him back to juniors. When he adds some strength and irons out some of his game he could be really good. He reminds me a lot of Fabbri but with better size and better in the corners. His play making is good. His shot off of toe drag is really good, but could be just a bit improved. He is not far away.

Kevin Shattenkirk's agent Jordan Neumann thoughts on how this weekend played out:

"Based on the conversations we had leading into this weekend with St. Louis, we did expect Kevin to have been traded this weekend. We are a bit surprised to be leaving here without having a deal done."

Yeah if Jarmo hadn't forced himself to draft a center, who knows what might have happened.

I'm kind of surprised the BJ's are still letting him call the shots. He knows he wants Dubois and that Edmonton is definitely going to want Puljujarvi over another center, why not trade down a spot and squeeze another pick out of Edmonton?

I don't see a deal with Boston making sense now that the draft is over and we have no idea what the value of their first round picks would be. Edmonton has better options if we are looking for an established player. Both Edmonton and Arizona have better options if we are looking for picks/prospects/young players.

Problem might be who Shattenkirk was willing to extend with. Word was it was not Edmonton, so I guess Canadian teams were out and there goes most hgh draft picks.

My guess is he had an extension in place and Buffalo tried to squeeze the Blues as it got near time.

Murray will blink and pay the right price. He has the assets. It was said he had a deal for dman but the team wanted three assets of value. Well, some value must be proven and Buffalo is short on that.

Dubois is likely going to be a really good player. My guess is Pujujarvi will be a real good one as well and will put points up sooner. That said the value Dubois is likely to have might be more significant depending if he can actuallynplay center in the NHL. If he can pnly play wing then that choice is absurd and you essentially pass up on at least two wingers of better skill.

Did you see where Strickland debunked the Larkin for Shatty request by Army? What a joke.

Who really knows what's going on there...

It's a bunch of bs.

It's an easy way to calm a fan base. Hey, they were asking too much, couldn't do it.

Even if a lot of it is bs, that is still a fair trade. Everyone needs top pairing offensive-defensemen more than the larger number of forwards who have talent and can score.

Unless something has changed one is more difficult to find than the other. I want your all-star but my all-star is more valuable... Larkin ain't Ovechkin, Crosby, Tarasenko, Benn or Kane or something. Maybe one day but that day ain't today and it will a few years before it can be proven.
