matter of perspective.
I'm of a generation of Europeans that feel more European than [insert country that issued passport].
There are quite a bit of (educated) Europeans that have lived/worked throughout Europe, and actually see Europe as 'home territory' (independent of living in Paris / London / Stockholm / Madrid).
There is another group of xenophobic conservatists whose 'world view' is restricted to the prices of a pint in their local pub and only go abroad 10 days each year to have a cheap all-inclusive holiday in Turkey.
There is alot wrong with EU policies, but there is a lot wrong as well with national politics. I for one would prefer to have a stronger central European government and get rid of most parts of authorities by individual member states.
Europe is too small to have 5-8 political layers in each country.
Some important policies ((global) health / health security, defense, pension systems, infastructure, energy/water etc. should be governed on a european level imo). |
