Habs currently have 11 930 000$ in cap space

Wonder how much Shaw will get

reports in Chicago are saying the 4.5M wasn't accurate. The number given today is 3.2M but looking for term. 3.2 would be a decent deal for him. Huge fan of the guy but 5-7 years is a bit long, imo.

Shaw is twice the player Moen and Weise ever can dream of being. Shaw can play with skilled players and have a positive effect on them. He can play anywhere up front. Is decent at FO. He is very effective playing in the top 6 in spurts if needed.
He will take a beating in front of the net on the PP.

4.5M would be crazy for him though.

The problem is MB will give him 4.5, and they'll bring back Weise next weekend

If salary being equal, Shaw is the better deal then Weise. Shaw has become a pretty good 2-way player. If he signs for something around 3, you guys will like watching him.
He doesn't take a shift off. He plays well in the playoffs, too.

Like I said. 4.5M would be crazy for him and I can see that being a contract that everyone would hate. And I am a huge fan of his but even I would hate signing him for 4.5M

It's long, but if he's only 24, maybe it's not that bad. If he's a lesser version of Gallagher, fans will like him. Maybe have to wonder how long you can play that style of hockey though.

I think montreal had a great draft.
Leafs did not. Aside from Matthews and maybe Greenway I'm a little disappointed. Great trade just now though getting Kerby Rychel

Seems to be the concern among most Hawk fans. Though...

He has gotten better every year. He can play any role the coach gives him.
