What, you expected them to trade for him and sign him to a 2 year deal?

5-7 years is excessive for a 3rd line player

Depends on his salary. 7x2 is good. 7x6, not so much

That would be ideal but I'm sure it will be close to the same team with as last yea just with the eller/ Shaw swap.

(Frank) I don't like where this is going with Shaw. The picks were bad enough but an Emelin like contract on the thrid line is a recipe for high blood pressure. Great draft otherwise though, especially no more Larry

Unfortunately it's very probable.

Not a lot of picks from the Q today...

Have to wait and see. It's probably going to be different playing with Plekanec and whatever plug they put on the 2nd line, vs playing with teows and kane.

They probably see him as more than a 3rd liner.

This is not a good thing.

I like the addition of Shaw, but I hope it's clear in their minds he's a third line player

I wouldn't mind the occasional PP time, in front of the net, but that's pretty much it.

I don't want the Moen/Weise scenario playing out again

I can't see mtl getting two top 6 players with their cap. Maybe one of Carr or Andrighetto plays there, but I'm sure everybody will complain about that as well.

Andrighetto showed some interesting stuff at the World Championships. Carr was doing good before his injury. Make or break training camp for both of them.

Habs currently have 11 930 000$ in cap space

Wonder how much Shaw will get

Is sherbek close to the NHL or does he need another year in the minors?

It was a tough year for him. He had an ankle injury that took forever to heal and it seems he could never find his rhythm

He was also 19 years old and playing in the AHL. Showed some good stuff at times. He should have a bigger role this year with IceCaps

in the 6th round the Habs picked Michael Pezzetta, 6'1'' 204lbs center that plays for the Sudbury Wolves.

Montreal traded their 2017 7th round pick to Winnipeg for their 2016 7th round pick and drafted defenseman Arvid Henrikson who plays in the Sweden U18 junior league

Dregs saying Shaw deal likely in range of 5-7 years

The fact they could of picked DeBrincat makes it so much worse

Shaw is twice the player Moen and Weise ever can dream of being. Shaw can play with skilled players and have a positive effect on them. He can play anywhere up front. Is decent at FO. He is very effective playing in the top 6 in spurts if needed.
He will take a beating in front of the net on the PP.

4.5M would be crazy for him though.
