I know there's an exception for players who have euro contracts and are just on loan to the CHL though. Nylander for example can play in the AHL next year

Don't think Sergachev is a loan.

Nope he was 6th in the CHL import draft. Can't play in the AhL next year. And I'm not sure I'd want him in that disaster boat Lefebvre is running over there.

Petry is the most overpaid of them all if you ask me.

5.5 seems to be the going rate for a decent nhl defender now sadly. But spending 24 million on the top 4 d is going to start to look bad. Pk has to play like a 9 million dollar player to make that look a bit better.

Second defensemen in scoring since the lockout. Only one in the top 5 with a positive +\-

More eyes on him because of the early buzz which means people got a bigger chance to knit pick his game.

His offense is good. The defence part of his game needs some work. Like he's fine, but he's now the highest payed defenceman in the nhl. I know that has to do with the time his contract was signed, but he was left off of team canada for a reason.

Still... him dropping to #16 kinda reminds me of how Forsberg dropped to #11 in his year.....

Good for Arizona I guess.

He's the most well rounded pure offense guy. Team canada would win gold with or whitout him or the 6 other D they picked.

And the guy who picks chose to coach the maple leafs.

Also he's the best and Bettman wanted to make sure Phoenix would develop hockey in the south.

They also left Letang off the team, and took Jake Muzzin. I don't think they really know what they are doing.

I agree, but I just mean guys like weber, doughty, peiterangelo, keith all make less then him. I don't think many gms would take pk over them. He has to get into that category to justify his 9 million dollar salary.

Same guys responsible for 2010 and 2014? I'm not sure, could you confirm, please?

Well it's the left and right shot thing, plus he and doughty know eachother. They should be ok offensively so taking a safe d man makes more sense.

Weber finished -7 on a far better team and Pietrangelo had only 37 points this season. Watch those guys play 82 games and you'll find plenty of flaws in their game.

I wouldn't look far into the plus minus stat to be honest. He played in a way harder division going up against teows, kane, seguin, Benn, teresenko, etc way more often then pk did. And Pietrangelo may not produce as many points but he's a far better all around d men. Watch game 7 from this years playoffs against the hawks. The guy was unreal.

Well, looks like Habs missed out on Debrincat and Girard with their 2nd round picks...too bad those migets would've fit in well with the others.

They also traded their 19th overall pick from a couple of years ago who had 43 pts last year in the AHL (for a defenseman, very good) for an early second...Not sure I get that move.
