Sergachev's coach in Windsor said he wouldn't be surprised to not have him back with the team next season

I'd be curious to see him playing forward in the O for a short while.

I guess. I think if there's a big change in that it will mostly come from Muller.

Depends on cap hit, if it's reasonable my only complaint will be they added him instead of offence. But if it's north of 3, or even worse, around the rumoured 4.5, I think it's awful on all fronts

- ehabs9

Its interesting that the two were lined up but that might be giving Bergevin a bit too much credit. I agree, I'd rather see a bonafide top 6 added but I just think Shaw might bring more than Eller offensively.

I'd rather have him in the AHL instead ... like all young D's, he will probably need to polish his defensive play.

His offensive side looks very good already and that's a part of the game that is much harder to teach ... you either have it or you don't.

Obviously have to wait and see, but scoring 1 more goal than Eller with way more ice time on a much better team doesn't give me hope.

I think so. He'd have to be on loan from overseas to be AHL eligible, whereas I'm pretty sure he's just an import player. Could be wrong though

Again, contract will determine if it's a real disaster or not in my opinion.

Edit: should be noted I was wrong about ice time, it was pretty much even. But it was in Chicago and Eller sucks so still relatively disappointing

It's not just about scoring goals. Shaw makes room for his linemates, goes to the net, he's a bit like Gallagher, where Eller was doing sweet (frank) all.
Now if they can find a scorer to complete the 2nd line things would be tiguidou.

Yeah but since we can't have him in the AHL and I don't think he should get the Yannick Weber treatment. Just give him 3-5 games as a forward to see if it could work.

Since he was drafted while playing in the OHL it's junior or NHL next season, same thing for the 2017-18 season.

The rule for a CHL drafted player to play at 19 in the AHL is at least turning 20 before January 1st, since his birthday is today (june 25th) and he just turned 18, he'll play 2 years of junior.

I doubt he'll ever play in the AHL.

Does anyone know if there were any potential steals that could have fell to them in the second round?

I know there's an exception for players who have euro contracts and are just on loan to the CHL though. Nylander for example can play in the AHL next year

Pascal Laberge, Alex DeBrincat, Vitali Abramov and at 45, one of Girard or Mete.

Sergachev is a great pick btw.

If he's a bit like Gallagher, I like it. Eller was useless out there. Not sure about 4 or 4,5 millions for Shaw (if this is what he wants), but meh.

Perron stats are not so good. He would be a cheaper option than others, but there's a reason for that.

Agreed, I would prefer better options. We'll see, maybe MB is not done trading...

MB not the best at signing. He pretty much overpaid every player he signed.

Pretty much. I think he did ok with Petry, but overpaid for most, yeah. Maybe he expected the cap to rise more than this as well.
