He gets paid what an elite #1 Dman costs.
Personality is changeable and he can grow up, i don't see either of these as insurmountable obstacles. - dbot
I actually agree with this.....its a very un-emo comment.... |

An unproven asset (4th pick) and a player who only has a very small sample size in terms of his development for a superstar defenseman. Are you serious? - Zogg
two top 5 picks for a 1 D might be a little light, but its not far off. Drasitl lit it up last year and looks very much like the real deal. |

Messier.
Henrik acknowledged the example of the captains that came before him; Kurtenbach, Smyl, Linden, and Naslund. Completely skipped Messier. Classic!! |

I would do that in a heartbeat as well. A D of Edler, Subban, Gubber, Hutton, Tryamkin and either Sbisa or Hamhuis would be very impressive! the 9th pick would still land you a decent prospect as well and there would be enough cap space to sign at least one goal scoring forward.

Passionate player, elite PMD, plays on the edge, has had maturity issues...again i don't see these as things that would prevent you aquirining a player. |

Not as outspoken as Subban and he played before the internet age but embodied many of the complaints people have about Subban..... |

From a pure hockey standpoint I agree with you guys. If that deal is on the table I'd probably take it too. I just can't stand the guy, and the baseball swing he took at Stone was uncalled for and unforgivable imo. |

When I really think about it, I have reasons for disliking Subban but to be honest I find it hard cheering for any of the "superstar" type guys. I've always preferred the quieter guys who don't have to scream to the world how good they are. Guys like the twins |

Draisaitl is too much of a question mark at this point in his career (it's simply way too soon and a huge risk to make a proper assessment as to what type of player he will develop into). If I am Montreal I would need to ensure I was obtaining a proven, consistent player of a high calibre. I would need someone like Hall or Eberle+ or Nugent+. |

I get that. Sedins are all class and i appreciate the humble hockey player too (Hamhuis also comes to mind).
On the other hand, i personally have no problem with the flashy players that shake things up a bit (Subbans, or Allen Iverson's, Connor McGreggor's and Sonny Bill Williams of the world) <--- that last one was for ASL |

Polarizing isn't the word I would use. I don't want a guy on my team who is such a sore loser he issues death threats, especially with lots of young players on their way up. Eriksson would make a fantastic role model, and behind him we can sign someone who will stand up for our stars.
I also don't want a guy with an ego the size of a mountain who takes baseball swings at guys wrists. - NorthNuck

51 points in 71 games is quite a bit of proof of high calibre, but you're right not consistancy. I agree Nuge is where the deal would start were I Montreal, but Draisitl does offer up a lot more cap relief. 20 year old 6'1 center coming off a breakout season and known to be a two-way player... I might not want to part with him if I were edmonton tbh, but in a Subban deal it makes sense. |

I highly doubt Subban's available, and if the Habs offered him and the 9OA for the 5OA, Tanev and Hansen and JB didn't take it, then he for sure should be fired. Which is why I don't believe a word of it no matter what Tomlinson says, maybe that's what Benning is offering, but I can for sure think that there's no way the Habs would take that deal if that's the case. They'd want that as a starting point and probably would want Bo as well which makes it unpalatable. |

I was thinking this too, Bo is the only thing I can see them really wanting. Let's them trade Plakanec and free up further space. If it was Bo Tanev and the 5th, we might be talking turkey. Think I would still do that deal if I'm JB, but it gives me a lot more pause.

What did you just say about Draisaitl Kid is going to be awesome. No question at all in my mind. Him and the 4th is way to much for Subban. |
