All he said was they were interested and would call his agent Saturday? Or was there more?
- Iggysbff

That Tanev and Hanson were to much and that he didn't think that Edmonton had the assets to outbid that offer if he choose to accept it.

This is what we have to deal with.

How does Buffalo and Toronto not get slapped for comments of offering Stamkos 12 mill per?

- Iggysbff

That's it. Does that constitute tampering I don't think so. 30 teams would love to have Stamkos plain and simple. All he did was say what every other GM is thinking.

I love Benning for doing it! NHL never does stuff about this anyways

I like it! Stir sh!t up and drive the price up for Edmonton!

The Subban complaint is ridiculous but the Stamkos complaint will probably earn him a fine.
- CubanBuffet

If the Canucks get fined for this Toronto should be investigated for cap circumvention...aquiring Nathan Horton contract....lose their 1st overall pick

Saying you will call on someone if he were to become available is not fine worthy. I commend him for being so candid. More GM's should. I liked Burke as a GM but what I disliked about him was. "No comment." Everything was no comment unless he needed to rant about refs or other BS.
- thundachunk

It was harmless, but still tampering. The Leafs got fined for saying they were interested in the Sedins a few years back.

I lumped them together. Buffalo said 12 mill. Toronto management has said other things though.

Come on. They have expressed interest numerous times. And there are some that even say there is a contract worked out already.

And if what Benning said is tampering then how is Van, Edmonton Calgary not tampering with Lucic?

He was in a grey area, that I will agree to but to actually tamper you have to make a call ahead of time or say you are going to offer said amount when he becomes available. That did not happen.

Leafs management have expressed interest in Stamkos? Are you sure? Lou won't even confirm if it's a game day most of the time. He's mafioso. He would never confirm anything.

no you don't. all you have to do is express interest in a player under contract. it might not be an egregious example of tampering but it is still tampering.

the player or player's agent now know for certain that another team will be making an offer should he reach the "communication" period.

sure, every team will be interested. just like every team would have been interested in the sedins when ron wilson made the comments about them.

benning/canucks will get a fine. 10k-25k. let's all just move on. it's a small deal but it was still dumb of benning to comment.

Ron Wilson didn't get abig fine more a wrist tap. After the NHL investigation no tampering was found, what does this have to do with the Laffs again.

Although all the teams involved in both the pronger and Horton cap circumventing schemes should loss their 1st round picks this year.

it has to do with the laffs b/c it is almost the same situation

http://www.sportsnet.ca/h...hl/leafs-sedin-tampering/

oh and btw, the league as already stated that injury contract deals are valid and not cap circumvention.

puty commissioner Bill Daly on Clarkson-Horton trade: "We do not view this trade as a form of Cap circumvention. If we did ... "

we could stop it and/or bring proceedings under the circumvention provisions of the CBA."
