That isn't my point. I only meant to point out the inconsistency of the voting that penalizes McDavid for being injured but glosses over a guy being cut. - James_Tanner
What does a player being "cut" at the beginning of the regular season have anything to do with the reality that he played 64 games and put up 17 goals, 29 assists and 46 points. McDavid should not get penalized for getting injured just like Ghost shouldn't get penalized for not starting the season in the NHL. The simple fact is Ghost played 64 games, which is the larger sample size (thus that should factor in his favor over McDavid's 45 games). |

first, you're an opinionated a-hole. And I mean that literally.
second, why should an employee who didn't show up for half the year win "employee of the year"? if you don't play for more than 1/3 of the season you shouldn't even be considered in my opinion.
third, megadeth is awesome. (old megadeth anyways!)
fourth, i don't even know what your name is...and wont remember it ever. braden holty will always be remembered, and not for a stupid reason like his name.
fifth, who cares what he looks like. the man is an amazing gt, and i'd rather have him kick me in the nuts than hang out with a sourpuss like yourself.
sixth, kane is innocent until proven guilty. i hate the guy too, doesn't mean he doesn't more than deserve that award this year.

Again, for the fifth time, I agree with everything you're saying, I'm only pointing out a logical inconsistency. |

trashing people for their names, appearances, and crimes they didn't commit isn't funny...it just makes you a wiener. |

Yes but does anyone think the defense of Doughty made up for the 32 difference in points? It's ridiculous to even say that. - James_Tanner
But Mr. Tanner, in your words judging based on results is flawed. So I discredit any point advantage Karlsson had. Plus Doughty's shot suppression is much better than Karlssons. Go Doughty for Norris!! |

Then how can any team with McJesus be an instant Stanley Cup contender???
You're a joke! - The-O-G
Because there isn't that much difference between the 12th and 30th teams. If you have McDavid, you have basically an untouchable line for 1/3 of the game. If you be just slightly below average everywhere else, which isn't that hard, you'll be a Playoff contender.
The Oilers only missed by 7 wins. Let's say another 40 games by McDavid and Klefbom is worth two each and the half season RNH missed is worth one. That leaves them two wins out of the Playoffs with maybe the worst D in the league and still quite a few other injuries.
And yes, I know injuries happen to everyone, but not to the extent the Oilers suffered last year. |

I am not cherry picking, I'm just pointing out the rules as they are stupid.
You can think whatever you want, I happen to think Panarin won the least deserving award maybe ever, not counting Doughty. - James_Tanner
So is the 25 game rule stupid? If so what would be your minimum for a rookie to qualify?

Keith Seabrook?
I do agree though, Karlsson got robbed and McDavid clearly was the best rookie. |

A good question. I don't really know if I've thought about it........there does need to be some kind of cut-off, and I do think it's cheesy if Matt Murray is a rookie next year after playing so much in the Playoffs.......I'd say maybe bring it down to ten or fifteen games?

Keith Seabrook is a real person. He is the career AHL younger brother of Brent Seabrook. I'm surprised nothing about how Kane didnt deserve the Hart Trophy bc he's "not a nice guy". Also, McJesus will have to wait on his Hart Trophy bc they dont award that for incomplete seasons either. Maybe the "greatest player in the world" should learn how to stay on his edges when going full speed near the boards? |

I've been saying for years that they need a separate award for the best offensive defenseman. They have one for the best defensive forward. If there were two separate awards for defenseman, Karlsson never would have even been considered for a Norris. The writers like stat lines and some of the best defenseman may not show up on the score sheet, but could be the best player on the ice.
Phil Housley had 92 points one season and finished 3rd in voting for the Norris, losing to Chelios who had 56 points that year. My how the times have changed. |

To me it seems like it was decided at the start of the season that it was time to give Doughty a Norris. I hate the Sens but Karlsson should have won it hands down. If he was a Leaf it would have been a no brainer.
I also think Crosby won the Conn Smythe for the same reason. I love Sid but Kessel deserved it more. |

If Karlsson was the best defenseman in the league this past season, his team would not have 230 goals for and 360 against. |

Tanner is an obvious Hawk hater as evidenced in his blogs the whole season.
He was just trying to sneak in as many Hawk players as he could in his latest tirade. |
