Agreed. Perhaps all of the bluster is most likely about bullying guys like Shaw and Ladd into lower demands to stay by creating the illusion that the team has all of this flexibility to fill their roles.

I just got my diploma in the mail over the weekend. Finished with a 3.9 GPA, and my senior thesis is up for consideration for an award from the History Dept. later in the year.

No idea. Bear in mind, these conversations often take at least a couple of days, even at this time of year.

I want to be clear as well, when I hear about a conversation at this time of year, and I think it's valid enough to share, there are probably anywhere from 2 to 10 other conversations going on between the Hawks and other teams at that very moment.

I wish I could be on top of every eventuality, but not happening.

I would think Stanley is talking to not just Calgary, but EDM, WPEG, CAR, probably a lot of Eastern teams about Shaw and maybe others.

Less than an hour away from the Canadian Rockies...great to see places like Chateau Lake Louise (further than an hour); Banff, Canmore, Kananaskis, etc. Definitely a beautiful area.

If EDM only wants a 3rd Rd for him I say JUMP ON THAT.
1) If you catch lightning in a bottle it cost you (basically) nothing for a solid player
2) IF he sucks we can send him to the minors. Yes eating 1.5M of space we don't have would suck BUT
3) You KNOW some idiot GM will offer sheet him and you will get back at min a 2nd round pick. If (a big IF) he blows up with a change of scenery that offer sheet will net a lot more than a 2nd.
To me a low risk high reward situation. But IMHO, I think EDM would want more than a 3rd for him.
