I agree that immediate success doesn't mean they will last forever but I personally know a lot of people that will go to LV every time the Hawks are in town.

Detroit doesn't sell out then because a lot of their lower bowl corporate owned seats are empty too

I'd be leery of Lucic, or any other big-bodied power forward that plays a lot of physical taxing minutes. Somewhere along the line, it seems that their effectiveness takes a nose dive all of a sudden. We've seen that with Bickell, Brown, Clowe, _______ - just about anyone you can think of to fill in the blank.

I'm not against Lucic or similar type player, but a high dollar amount and a long term contract could end up working adversely.

Excellent point EK--- especially since they have already suffered through that with Bickell-- and frankly they never recovered or replaced him with a power forward with snarl-- I'm not surprised that 19 & 88 have lobbied for that--- might be why they signed Bickell to that 4M back then-- and if he stayed healthy?? who knows--

Ladd's no bad ass. Ask anyone who has ever played high level competitive hockey, you always want the baddest man on the ice on YOUR side. Let's you play a little bigger, tends to let you have just a bit more time and space while the guy checking you thinks twice. For a guy like Toews, getting just a bit more time and space is all he needs. And a guy that has his back is a feel good.

Depends on the length of the contract for me. If Lucic would go for a one or two year deal, then I can justify the idea of paying him $6 million per season.

Most I would do is 3-4 years. 4 is stretching it. Do I think the signing makes the Hawks top 6 better? Yes, I do. But what is the cost? Shipping out Shaw, CC, AA, Kruger? Hard to say on this one Eli. I think the signing would help the Hawks.

If the cap space required to sign Lucic can be freed up I would rather sign Ladd over Lucic.

Also, with diminishing cap growth extra cap space required to re-sign Panarin do we really want to lock-up Lucic long term at (or around) $6 million? I wouldn't move Crawford for Lucic either.

Why won't casinos buy the tickets and then "comp" their high rollers? They don't own the team like they own the stages that all of the performances take place on.

They are not going to have any problem SELLING the seats from a revenue standpoint

The only difficult part will be developing a fan base and not just for visitors...but A LOT of people here love hockey and loved/miss the minor league team that was here.

They probably will--- BUT the question is how does that get accounted for in the box office gross-- way too many variables that have to be monitored-- especially in Vegas-- where 'comps' are thrown around flagrantly

I really do not think the Hawks want to get rid of Shaw. Lucic is a nice player but he is missing the intangibles he is not a winner in the same mold of Joe Thornton. They can get you close but cannot close the deal. Shaw can! I do think the Hawks regret paying Kruger what they did for what he is. I love all the trade rumors.
