Perhaps they should consider naming the team the "Montreal Subbans". After all, someone who doesn't follow the team regularly might think that he is the only player on the roster.

As far as ownership stepping up to stop this, no. If ownership does not have faith in management, they need to clean house and restart. You can't have ownership undermining management on personnel moves, especially considering it has (reportedly) already happened once before with Subban. That said, I am pretty sure that Molson and Bergevin are in constant communication and are probably already on the same page regarding this. Rumors are ripe this time of year, you should know Ek, you make a living off of fabricating them. Now you are telling me that ownership has to step up to stop it? Hah.

Subban is a great guy off the ice, and he will remain so anywhere he ends up. His philanthropic efforts do not live and die in Montreal. If the Habs feel like a Subban trade makes them a better team, then pull the trigger.

EK, I absolutely LOVED this article. I believe it's clear that you're very passionate about this specific topic. I've criticized Marc Bergevin more times than I can count publicly on my blogs on this very site, so I echo your sentiments.

As much as I would love to completely agree with you, I do think that Bergevin has to AT LEAST listen to what the offers could potentially be. I understand the situation with Shea Weber, but we're talking about two completely different types of players. Subban is a lot more polarizing and rubs quite a few people the wrong way, thus I believe it's important for the GM to understand the extent of P.K.'s value on the market.

That will not only enrich his understanding of a (trade) market that he really does NOT like resorting to, it will make him a more shrewd negotiator if ever he does decide to pull the trigger on a big trade that could cost the organization one of the regulars on the Habs' team.

Admittedly, I hate that Subban gets so much flack the instant he opens his mouth or does anything, but I think he's handling it quite well.

I can't wait till July 1st then MB won't have to take any calls on Subban. any trade involving Subban make's the team receiving Subban better, people can hate or say how he didn't win the Norris or placed 14th in the voting but i remember him winning that trophy. People seem to forget the team that played with him this year and the fact he's paired with Marcow. Next season if god forbid no gets hurt, the Habs will be a team you don't wanna play against. Enough is enough, Subban is staying in MTL they will somehow find a top 6 center. (you'd better prey it's not Sammer) We will make the Playoffs next year and with Price, Subban, Chucky, Gally, Patches I'll feel pretty darn comfortable.
