Teams will keep calling. He's a top RHD. His no-trade clause kicks in on july first. Montreal had a bad year. It's a perfect storm.

He's not going anywhere unless he asks for a trade. Bergevin gave him that deal, not so long ago.

Count me in the camp that thinks it was Molson behind that, not Marc "my job is hard" Bergevin

There have been Geno rumors for the past 4 years & I don't understand it. Why would the Penguins trade a world class Center that has helped them win half of their Stanley Cups? And don't say cap space, not a reason.

A good GM will take calls about any player. That is part of the due diligence. I would not be happy if my GM wasn't taking calls.

1) Habs are not shopping Subban

2) Teams are calling about Subban, and Bergevin would be stupid not to at least listen to what is being offered.

3) Anyone can be traded, it is based on what they do for the team, not the community.

That being said, I highly doubt PK is going to be traded, and if they do trade him, I think the Habs would be making a huge mistake as their D would become one of the 10 worst in the league.

So you refuse to add PK to your chart because you believe it is lunacy? You make money by adding the names to the list. So by not adding the name are you in breach of what you are offering? HAHAHAHA Besides, aren't the Flyers in on him? They are in on everyone else!!!

Bergevin won't make a big trade. The other gm's are dumb for wasting time talking to him.

If GMTM strikes out on Stevie Stammer, I'd trade #8, Zemgus, maybe Pysyk or another sweetener, for PK all day.

Come on now EK what do you expect Markdown Mark to do? He can't just say fork off and hang up the phone. He is not phoning other teams, they are phoning him. There will be no trade, unless it is for some extraordinary package that would make the team look stupid. PK stays in La Belle Province or they will have me to deal with.javascript:emoticon('')

You are severely over-estimating the hockey knowledge, the compassion, and the general intelligence of the Montreal Canadien fan. Passion, ooooooh yes, the fans here have it. Logic, hockey sense, composure, class, innate intelligence...you're giving them far too much credit.

It's one of the only rinks I've been in where they allow people to move down to their seats while the play is on (some ushers are holding people up recently, but for years this has been the case). They're the fans that wanted to trade Koivu, Kovalev, Price, and now Subban. They called 911 and the police for an on ice incident. it goes on and on and on with these fans and this team.

I have lived here for over ten years and I feel that all I do is defend the team to their own fans. "you sure do dislike your own team" is a phrase often coming out of my mouth living in Montreal. I heard sooooooo much about the Montreal Canadiens' great hockey fans...it's just passion...it's not hockey IQ. not even close.

I am sure I will catch a lot of heat for this next comment too, but I find that the french canadien culture is not...well..it's not so welcoming to people of a different colour. put it that way. PK has both strikes, given that he is somewhat challenged in terms of speaking french.

WHY IS GALLAGHER ALLOWED TO WEAR #11!!!!! Koivu did so much for this city and they have never given him deserving credit. He also made 7fig donations, bought an MRI, etc. etc. Why isn't his jersey retired? You know the reason why...c'est simple.

The passion in Montreal is electric, watching games at the Bell Centre is a wonderful experience...but don't go lavishing all of this praise on a city that has been in economic decline for quite a number of years, bashing the team for not having enough francophone players, cheering for Halak while the best goaltender in the world is right there in front of them struggling between the pipes.

This latest publicity with Subban...to me...is just another same old story with the Habs. We shouldn't be surprised.

wow ... sounds to me like you're the racist one

also, every big market has his share of stupid fans... that's not exclusive to Montreal. You sound like you have a grudge against the city for some reason

Ek,

You really slay me. As the chief rumor monger and primary profiteer/promoter of a website that promulgates said rumors, you have absolutely ZERO moral authority to lecture any NHL origination for contemplating moving ANYONE for ANY reason. Your recent speculation about Malkin turned out to be what everyone predicted, baseless and false, yet there won't be any retraction forthcoming, not that anyone expects that from you at this point. So you will report what you report, fine, I don't know that anyone of us begrudge you the right to make a living, after all, here we are all on your site. But please spare us the sanctimonious preaching, which comes of as nothing more than pure hypocrisy.

As an anglophone who moved to Quebec, I think I can "sort of" relate to racism. (I don't pretend that it is anywhere near the real thing, but I think I can relate to how it feels to be judged/excluded/discriminated). I really loved the city years ago and elected to remain here and build a business, life, and family. All of the politics and social issues do weigh on me, that's for sure. I just think that this romanticized view of the Montreal Canadiens and their fans is way overblown. They're normal, passionate fans, in a city that is not quite up to par with a lot of north american sports teams' intelligent fan bases.

They chant a soccer song for god's sake.

Subban is great. No question. I think the team has to see what is out there before his NTC kicks in. They have a 9 mil cap hit for 6 years after. I don't think he should be insulted. I think there is a price for every player. This is a business more than an organization and they should be looking at what will let them put the best team possible for them on the ice each year. I don't think anyone will offer what Subban is worth as it is a lot but they need to at least take the calls. Subban has to know this. It is the nature of the business. Although I can't think of an example where a player of this caliber has been traded without the player requesting it, I still think that there is a price tag on everyone.

How therrien survived this season is beyond me. If you have no intention to trade him just flat out say it, for the respect, confidence, and love for your franchise defenseman.

You are still bringing the 911 thing? The media called 911.

The problem in Montreal is not the fans, its the media, and you are stupid enough to believe everything they write and do, apparently.

Im not even gonna comment on the racist part, thats just out of the way.

Also, they do not allow people to go to their seats during play. Nice try though.

On an other note, Ek, where does your hatred for Michel Therrien come from? Every blog you're writing concerning the habs talks about how bad therrien handles things, how bad he treats x or x player etc.

I'm not suggesting he is a god, not at all. Fact is he is on his third stint with an NHL team atm, if he was this bad, he would've never got hired anywhere in the first place. I mean, everyone makes mistakes, Hell I'm not even a fan of his myself, but the fact is he isn't retarded for all I know.

The habs also have already said they are not trading PK. Knock it off.

If I were Bergevin I'd want to know what people would offer me for my superstar D too. Doesn't mean I'd pull the trigger.
