I think he's captain of robidas island.
- burn

Apparently, he has told friends that he believes he has played his last game as a Leaf. Only a rumor, but - there's reason to believe that they don't want a player (top salary on the team) that plays 40 to 60 games a year. In six seasons with the Leafs he's played 69 once, 66 once and has had an injury every year here. Was great when healthy and interested.

- winsix

I get that your fellas want him gone. I get that he thinks he is gone.

But I've yet to see a plausible place where he can go.

Robidas Island (which is actually a pretty overblown concept) is for guys who can no longer play.

I have to believe Lupul still thinks he can play.

I don't see him faking an injury and being content to sit on Robidas Island for the next few years. And the NHLPA will back him on this. Play him, trade him or buy him out.

Robidas Island is not an option. Trading him is not an option. Buying him out is not a good option.

I think he is on the roster this year, the Leafs wait patiently until he is injured, and then they buy him out next summer when the penalty is much, much lower.

Can't fault the pens for asking, but they obviously don't feel the need to move him yet.

I'm really curious to find out whats going to happen with Lupul. The rumour flying around is that he told friends "I think you might have seen my last days in a Leaf uniform".
- CherryPicker

Or maybe he was just referring to the fact that the Leafs are getting new uniforms.

lets move JVR... yup.... have a top 6 that has under 400 games played collectively... 326 of them by kadri

and the cup will be ours.

- Dozzer

I'd move him too to be honest. But not for anything higher than #3-5 overall.
Not that I'd be the slightest bit upset if we didn't. I know they are only prospects compared to a legit top 6 NHL winger, but Puljujarvi and Dubois intrigue me enough to pull the trigger. All the JVR talk has more to do with what might be available for him than any real desire to move him.

Besides, Nylander is going to be on the team all year. I just can't see us icing a team with two players who have exactly the same disgusting mouth-guard chewing habit.

I hate to be a stick in the mud here, but how exactly would Mr. Grosso determine this?

I'm not a doctor, but I did some googling - the sports hernia surgery Lupul had back in February or March wouldn't prevent him from coming back to training camp at 100%.

Told by a very good source - without specifics - that the #Leafs are "actively and aggressively" trying to land a "top-pairing" defenseman.
