no

kreider is an impending RFA... hence the cheap price

and kreider is a 3rd line winger who can step into a top 6 role.... JVR is an established top line winger... huge net presence nowadays too.. works great with kadri as the setup man

doubt you rarely see JVR and Matthews together except maybe on the PP

is that because we might sign S....never mind

I remember them talking about it in Jan.. then a week or so before the DL they mentioned it again.
- Arctic_AARDVARK

i dont think they meant 22 games tho.... now that you mention it i do vaguely remember something about it.. but i think the plan was to not burn a year of his ELC but injuries forced it to happen.... and also once he got up to the leafs... babcock didnt want him to go back down if i am not mistaken?

I know you aren't "talking about him" so no need to respond but I don't see JVR and Kadri playing even one shift together next year.

I think so, too. Calgary or Buffalo.

I hope they both sign him to 5+ year deals.

Benning confirms #Canucks will "definitely have interest" in Lucic, but you already knew that. Refreshingly honest.

[quote=Dozzer]i did read your post... and i saw the stamkos bit as part of it so that made me turn away from the rest of the post

how many times do i need to say this? i am not convinced marner will return to junior and i am not convinced he will be on the leafs either

i am sitting back and waiting for him to prove it. i just refuse to get ahead of myself when it comes to him

You contradict yourself here.

I respect your opinion - but disagree with your view. 5 years to get to the playoffs - is way too conservative. Babcock has missed the playoffs twice in his 13 year NHL career, and even with brutal goal tending last year the team managed 69 points. My estimation is that the Leafs need to make a 27 point improvement to make the playoffs. Is it pie in the sky unreasonable, according to you yes, me - no. Lou basically stated flat out that at least 50% of the team will change from last year to this. The team shed contracts and I feel there is more of the same to come. To me the goalie improvement alone will be worth half the points they need to achieve the 96 points required. The other 13-14 points will depend on moves - I have faith. I am willing to predict that Marner will be good for 54 points, 24 goals and 30 assists next year, Matthews will be even better. I will admit, my 50 years of patience is wearing a bit thin.

really? based on what logic?

kadri is already the top line C.... matthews... as good as he is... will start on the 2nd line...mark my words on that

also... both matthews and JVR play a drive the net game... they wouldnt suit each other

I'm still waiting for the day when we have to erect a tombstone at the side of the crease for him.

I've never understood the meaning of the term 'pipe dream'. Does it mean getting blasted on the opium pipe and having crazy dreams?

Well, since you responded - As mentioned, if they sign Stamkos (was what I meant) JVR and Kadri will not play together.

My money is easily on Matthews.
Already dominated men in a pro league and is just far more complete at every level than Nylander.

- Cooshie

Would be cool if Matthews, Nylander & Marner are all nominated for the Calder.. lol that would be history in the making iright there!
