ive been bracing myself for this. every fan base overvalues their own players. girgensons is a third line/middle six at best forward coming off of an 18 point season. that doesnt get you near a 25 year old top 4 d by himself. anaheim fans were turning their noses up at girgensons +8 on a different board a few weeks ago. if it goes down this way, so be it. whats interesting to me is that i firmly believe that there is zero chance that bogosian gets moved if fowler comes here. there is just no way he is going to lose the physical play from the roster. none.

If that's the case, fine, let the keep Fowler. He's middle pairing, will never be a top a top pair guy. We already have our middle pairing set, and probably will have two more on the way with Nelson and Guhle. I would so much rather make the pick at #8 take one of the defensemen and then see how they develop over the next two seasons. At least one of them may have a top pair ceiling in their future, Fowler doesn't.

They aren't in the same stratosphere. No offense to Risto, but we've pretty much accepted that he's a quality/high end #2 with the POTENTIAL to be a #1. Ekblad is a #1. Better in his own end, and has 10 more points in 30 less games. Risto should be compared to Maatta, although Risto's slightly better IMO. I would love an extension of 6-8 years at 5.5-6 Mil

I think they should have all the confidence in the world as Galychenyuk as their #1 center. I love watching that kid play.
