i dont know that him going to toronto automatically makes them any better... how where they when they had kessel? still missed the playoffs. does stamkos bring a ton more than kessel did to the table?

Did they have Kessel plus Matthews, Nylander, Marner, Reilly, Babcock, and now Andersen? As much as I hate it that team is going to be really good in 2-3 years. If they get Stamkos it really does make that big of a difference.

Well..... yea but... I got nothing.

This current year, no. But there's a point where you see their best years are behind them and you don't trade for them imo. If we already had Nash, that's fine. But we don't. If we could get rid of Moulson then maybe I'd be more into it because he can just take his spot, but to have both of them on my team is really hard for me to be good with. I don't see Nash as Jagr, he's not going to go gracefully.

He's at worst still a top level 2nd liner, who because of his cap hit is going to get dealt on the very, very cheap

BTW, Kris Baker says Nylander can play in the AHL this year. So that's a Swiss flag... (Big Plus)

But what if last year was his new normal? Are you okay with him getting 30-35 points a year for that money? If he rebounds then yes it's great. But if we look at the past I look at the recent past and that's what I see.

If it happens I'll hope for the best but I'm not hoping we get him.

That's where I'm at. As happy as I am with where the team is now it just sucks to see them right there and doing it better. Had we gotten McDavid it would be fine but we didn't. So here we are.

Now if somehow stamkos comes here then game on. Otherwise I expect us to have 1, maybe 2 years of being top dog in the division before Toronto comes and takes that from us.

Again, his underlying numbers still suggest that was top line production.

He was 63rd in points per 60. So he was basically the 3rd best forward on the average team.

He's a stop gap for two years that wouldn't cost a lot.

Nash for 2 years >>>>>Okposo for 5 or 6 IMO
