I know your suppose to draft the best player in the first round but............

if you sign stamkos and vesey, wouldn't you lean toward a d man at 8 instead of a plug and play winger

I am still not sold on Risto being a number 1

I feel ok he will be a number 2, much better than I did with myers at this point

- homiedclown

I have no doubt. I when I saw the Sabres live this year... Risto was a beast out there. He was the most impressive player on the ice for me that night. He just played with such physicality. He just was staplegunning people to walls on every shift. He was mixing it up and chirping after whistles. He was making smart plays and taking timely shots from the point.

He became my favorite defensemen and maybe player htat night.

If we sign Stamkos and Vesey we are much more "all-in" then to wait for a D_man.

I think if that is the case we more likely trade 8 for Fowler or someone that is NHL proven. Maybe Barrie or Shats could be in play for us.

Ooo i love the saltiness
- Havic3814

Usually all of the Boston tears make for great cupcakes when Brady loses in the playoffs, but with all the extra salt, I may have to make a bigger batch of vesey cakes.

Still too early to judge. I agree with the Myers part.

I feel he's a top pairing guy. I would put him out there up 1 with a minute left. But he needs a good partner who can eat minutes and can play sound defensively. He doesn't need help with the offense but he needs someone he can trust so he can move the puck.

I think the best LD the sabres could expect to land in a trade is Vlasic

We have 2 new credible pieces of evidence pointing towards him putting on the blue and gold today. That's a positive.

I've been leaning to a Dman no matter what happens. Guess I'm a bad one to ask in this scenario.

Oh I hadn't heard that second part. Interesting that Hayes might have advised him against him. I would think that team has to see the tunnel is getting dark on their success with aging players but that still has to be a strong locker room I'd imagine.

But hey... all the better for us.

I'd be lying if I didn't say I've been playing with a create a player Vesey in NHL 16 for the past week on Eichel's wing.

- JVince11

Here's the direct quote from the Boston guy:

"here is the skinny on Vesey and it is a little bit strange. As of about two months ago he was about 100% locked to Boston. "That has changed dramatically. He was headed to Buffalo as of about 10 days ago from what I was told. A bit surprised that Buffalo actually traded a pick, but I guess they didn't want to take any chances. Yes he is very close with Eichel and that it a huge factor as to why it is going to be Buffalo, but not a factor as to why it wont end up being Boston. Now comes the strange part.

Yes, Vesey is close with Eichel and yes he is very tight with Grezelyk, as they grew up together. Unfortunately he also grew up with the Hayes brothers. Jimmy and his family are very unhappy with the way the season went, and they feel that, correct or incorrectly that Jimmy has taken a lot of heat from the media pundits, (newspapers and more frequently Michael Felger). they are probably being a bit oversensitive, but this is how they feel. They are very unhappy with the whole situation in Boston, and have frequently voiced their feelings to the Vesey family. The Bruins feel as though the Hayes poisoned the Bruins to the Vesey family, and that the Vesey's were dramatically influenced by it all. Crazy, but this is what it is. Irregardless of what his agent says, he is now almost a lock to sign with Buffalo.

Enjoy the draft and the summer everyone."

If you get those 2 (but remember, can't get Stamkos until July 1st and can't even talk to him until Saturday) then I think you trade for a defenseman. Murray has said LHD is his #1 priority so I see that pick being traded tomorrow regardless.

Maybe I need to watch MacK more consistently. I saw him play live in Colorado his rookie year and his speed was like everyone else was stuck in mud. He was just PHENOMAL to watch. It took my breath away. (Miller's final start as a Sabre in which he got chased and we lost like 7-1)

I saw Eichel play live this year against NYR when ROR was out and he was an amazing guy to watch and make passes to the center when other's weren't on his page... but it didn't take my breath away like MacK had.

- JVince11

Eichel's skating isn't a typical "speedster" type. That was one of the main comparisons between him and McDavid. Eichel pushes through the ice with long strides whereas McDavid glides over it and has a shorter stride. Both are fast but it's a different style so it looks different. The quicker leg movements by McDavid make it seem like he's moving that much faster (he is faster, but not by as much as you'd think).

Could be a number of reasons for that, though. I haven't looked into that at all but it could be he wanted his degree so he could do something after hockey or because he just wanted the degree for him or his family. Maybe he got to the point where he was like "You know, I've already come this far and all I have to do is wait a little longer and then I can play anywhere I want so why not wait".

But from everything I've heard he's a good player and will help any team he goes to. Nashville, a playoff team, had a top 6 spot open for him for the playoffs.

Sorry, meant to say Left Side Defenseman, not LHD. I don't think the handedness of the player matters that much as long as they can play the position. Power play might be a bit different, but not during 5v5
