I'd rather stand pat, draft Nylander/Sergachev/Keller, sign Demers and trade for Hoffman.
- chilliard77

Demers is not as good as Fowler, will cost more and is a right shot defenceman.

It depends what the cost is for Fowler.... I won't give up

Risto, Reinhart, Eichel, O'Riley, Guhle, Bailey or 8th overall for him but anything else is up for grabs.

Would consider swapping their highest pick which I think is 24 and Fowler for 8 but not super crazy about it.

Jets, as is their style, haven't tipped hand but several teams told me to not rule out notion of Puljujarvi going 2nd overall to WPG.

I like Fowler, but the reason I don't want him is because if we do he's going to be expected be a top pair D, which he isn't. A top pair of Fowler/Risto scares me if we're trying to make the playoffs.
- chilliard77

He'll be a top pair by default..

It's the reality of the situation. Ideally we can stay at 8 and still get him then draft one of Jouevli or Sergechev at 8 to eventually slot into that spot

I saw that... I personally smell smoke but in some Jerry Seinfeld bizarro world they pass on Laine and draft Puljarvi then I'm calling up Columbus immidietely and offering to take on any bad contract of there's they want

I strongly disagree.

That's odd, they might take him #2, but CBJ were allegedly going to pass on him.

I don't understand that crap... Point is Demers is now most likely the most sought after free agent meaning he will want north of 5 mill a year for likely 5-6 years. Not worth it for a right shot D unless Murray can unload Bogosian's deal and still trade for Fowler..

Fowler Risto
McCabe Demers..

But I don't see Demers as a realistic possibility

We're going to need moves on defense, probably more than one. The idea of Fowler Risto / McCabe Bogosian as our top 4 makes me want to throw up a little. Lol

It's not going to happen but I would lose my mind if we could somehow trade Bogosian for Barrie. Bogosian hits people, get on the phones Sakic.

If we were to aquire Barrie would cost Bogosian plus 8th overall most likely... And still give us a hole on the left side unless Barrie can for some reason play there.

I think left / right balance is overrated.

GMTM said he wants a big, heavy, fast team... Ennis is a fast, little, water bug.

I think a right hand d is our best bet. Faulk, Barrie, Demers, Severson.

To be honest I hope not, I like Brown but there should be better players available at 8.

I think it will be more likely..

With the 8th pick the Buffalo Sabres select. "Tim Murray stops mid sentence after getting a phone call. He walks off stage leaving Pegula and Bylsma confused. After a few minutes he motions over to them to get off the stage and informs Bettman that he just traded the pick."
