Certain posters will freak out no matter who Benning selects. I am trying to log their preferred selections so I can cross reference post draft. Ie. even if their "dream prospect" is chosen they will still freak out. I am keeping notes - CanuckDon
The way I understand it is they MUST be in their 3rd year of ELC going into this year to be eligible for expansion draft.
The players exposed must of played 70 over 2 season or 40 in the season prior - WhatTheNuck
Unless Virtanen and Hutton were playing on a AHL only contract, wouldn't it be their 3rd as well?
I'm pretty confident that they will be exempt but it is a little confusing that Blander isn't s well?
Alcohol to enable tears and a freak out or to prevent. I'll be watching with my nine year old, which should keep me clean. He's already mad at me for turning him into a Canucks fan. - bazz
I tried for 3 years to get my daughter to be a canucks fan. Last year she chose the Jets instead.
That depends, if they are targeting Dubois, they won't trade down further than 5OA as he won't slip to 6 unless EDM takes a defender. I'd hope Benning knows this and would not give up much to move to top 3 to ensure JP. - Retinalz
I think the flames end up at 3 cbj at 6 and take brown, sounds like thats who they like.

The hardest selection for me is Nylander at 6. Burke wants a forward with size pretty badly so it's possible he reaches for Brown or goes BPA who he may think is a Dman. - CanuckDon
Ya I really think they move up for that reason. Would be shocked if they didnt.

Virtanen is only 19 so isn't he not eligible to play in Utica as a pro until 20? A conditioning stint wouldn't count but I was pretty sure he jumped straight to NHL like Horvat did. Hutton and Tryamkin only signed 2 year ELC contracts and both burned a year off of them last year. It is a bit confusing but it's pretty clear with them. Carol touched on them being exempt from the expansion a while back too. Gaunce, Horvat, Etem, Baertschi and Vey (if signed) are all eligible.
I'm pretty sure they need to play a certain amount of games pro and 4 games wouldn't burn a year off in the previous year. I think it is 10 games or so. Hutton is 23 but a college guy so he played there until those 4 games in 2014-15. Tryamkin 13 games last season burned 1 year off his contract.
Gaunce has played in Utica for 2 years so he now is going into his 3rd year. Horvat, same deal except he jumped straight to the NHL instead of playing more in junior.
