Does Calgary not have a goalie in the pipe line?

Edit: Seeing how bad Van has been at drafting over the years. As I look through other teams draft history, I honestly think Van has been maybe a bit below the average but not as bad as we all think compared to other teams.

They have gillies but he is probably at least a year away ...and that team deserves NHL calibre goaltending now

thescore.com is reporting that Columbus is trying to move up from the 3rd. They really feel like Laine and Matthews are that much better.

Bean, McAvoy, some mocks have Logan Stanley up there. Who knows. I'd be a bit annoyed if Van could trade down with Arizona and pick up Jost and Fabbro though.

Two if they wanna be competitive! Doesn't have to be Lucic and Eriksson though, could be one of them and a lesser forward but can play top six.

Everyone needs to brace themselves for UFA season. Benning will sign a top 6 winger for a 5/6 year term. Nobody wants to sign an aging forward for that long but that appears to be the market. Aquilini wants the team back in the playoffs so not spending to the cap isn't an option.

I have Bean at 15, McAvoy at 19. I've been trying to set a top 30 on draftsite but after the top 10 it becomes impossible hahah

For some reason I just don't care for Okposo. I think Eriksson is the smartest move. Can play in any situation. I'd like to see Virtanen start the year in the AHL. Play top 6 minutes. PP. Score some goals, get confidence. Bring him up maybe around Xmas.

Going to be a lot of F's here, especially if Rodin turns out. I think Gaunce is good enough to be in our bottom 6. No shortage of 3rd or 4th liners here!

what player would you overspend on?

I look at a guy like Jamie Benn who is ufa next season as a player to overspend on, or I guess Stamkos this season. I'd hate to overspend on a lesser player and that stops you from being in the market for a bigger fish later.

Free agency is the silly season.

I hope JB is looking at a trade wih a cap strapped team for a younger pending rfa.

Okposo will earn a contract similar to Eriksson. $6MM per. we can either afford an Eriksson/ Okposso or a few 3rd line forwards. It's pretty clear they are focused on a winger for the Sedin's so I supect 1 high end UFA signing.
