And the new worst contract in the NHL is that of keith yandle... wtf florida - mauryballstein
Kind of an odd move ...they didnt have a single D Man under contract after next season so maybe it's not the worst deal ...as long as they realize they are paying him to get 40-50 points and be terrible defensively |

Florida has Eckblad and will be fine, Yandle is there to help take some of the load off of Eckblad and in anticipation of Mitchell retiring. Plus they still have Luongo for like, ever. |

Wasn't that Jost?Who will be developing along side Boeser next season? - Retinalz
That is correct, I think he will be the steal of this draft. |

I think they want Yandle to replace Campbell. |

The term and money were ridiculous enough but a NMC for 6 of those 7 years literally made me laugh histerically. |

I thought people wanted Tallon here to mentor Linden and Benning. |

Different situations as Florida has always been a team trying to make the cap floor and that's why Brian Campbell was signed seven years ago to that monstrous contract to help get them to the floor. In Chicago Tallon didn't have that problem and mostly made the nucleus of that core. |

I honestly think Flames should be looking at Bishop then Reimer. Fleury IMO will be just another Ryan Miller for you guys. |

To be fair most of the core for the Hawks and now the panthers are high first rounders ...it's not like he found a Brodie or gaudreau ...or say a Hutton and tree ...if your team is just bad for years and you get top 5 picks every year that's not exactly great team management that got you there ...I do view teams like Florida or Edmonton different than day Buffalo or Toronto tho |

So what your saying is that Van after this year will be back in the playoffs contending for a cup?

Drafting Wise, I wouldn't say he's a genius. He's turned around that team pretty well. Contracts other then the length of Yandle's is. The players hit 30 and are pretty much like last chance to get paid and the league is still old school and happy to give the guys one last contract.

To me it all depends on the cost of each:
Bishop should cost more than we want
Fleury is reasonable
Varly kinda worries me
Howard's contract worries me
Halak would be decent option if available
Bernier if leafs take a contract back
Reimer would cost nothing but cap space
As for flower I think he is not quite at Miller stage yet but I see your point |

Don't really have a choice and this team does need at least one UFA forward. |

Let's see he traded for Hossa, Keith was a 2nd rounder, Shaw a 5th rounder, Patrick sharp 95th Overall, Brandon Saad 2nd round, Dave Bolland 2nd rounder.
Tallon has made Florida into the team they have through the same model by drafting some good players and trading for mentors along the way. He isn't over rated he's under rated" |

Does Calgary not have a goalie in the pipe line?
Edit: Seeing how bad Van has been at drafting over the years. As I look through other teams draft history, I honestly think Van has been maybe a bit below the average but not as bad as we all think compared to other teams. |

he signed Hossa as a UFA. Another long ridiculous deal. He traded for Sharp. Still a shrewd move tho. I wouldn't call him overrated or underrated.
He tears teams down. Acquires picks. Loads up on top picks. Kinda what we wanted here. Never happen with Sedins still around tho.
Just a note:
What if Pitt didn't draft Staal 2nd overall in 2006? If they took Toews instead? Toes and Crosby together? |
